I don't really watch any sports, but my American-born spouse likes American football and I'm still baffled at the pace years into marriage. The big sport here is hockey though, so most other things seem slow to me. Except maybe basketball. That seems pretty speedy.

There were some weeks where some products were almost or entirely gone - I remember some varieties of pasta being gone, and I think tortillas were in short supply. But it was never like the store was empty.
