Chonk-E

I don’t hate it at all. I wanted to hate it.  still hate the name though.

It looks... worse than I was expecting? Like, a lot worse.

I was with you until you blasphemed against the exquisite Mustang II. They’re good cars, Mike!

Ah shit. They did the thing. They couldn’t just let it be its own car. It’s gotta be called Mustang.

Something seemed wrong about the previous story’s numbers, and indeed, now we know that it was wrong. I’m glad we’ve got a bit more context behind why.

I blame automatics not sucking. Getting an automatic used to have an associated penalty in performance, reliability and mileage. Now they’re faster, more reliable, will tow more (if you’re getting a truck), and get better mileage. The only reason to get a manual now is that you like them. I’m one of those who likes to

I’m a millennial and I can assure you, the Boomers are not the issue here. I’m actually pretty sure that manuals are sticking around still because of all the boomers who insist that a manual is the only way to go for a sports car. Most Millennials I know can’t drive a manual unless they are an enthusiast. I do know

“Or just buy a sports car”

if you really want a 100k Lexus sports car, just get the lc 500, its prettier, has a nicer interior, and uses basically the same engine?

I don’t mind it. And I like the idea of a sporty-looking EV crossover from a mass-market automaker. I don’t think branding it as an actual Mustang variant is a smart idea, but that wouldn’t stop me from buying one.

They must all be at SEMA. I have yet to see one in the wild.

Now playing

The 300,000 lbs towing capacity that Musk mentioned might not be the same as a 300,000 lbs tow rating. For example a Tundra towed the Space Shuttle which amounted to almost 300,000 lbs:

I think it will be more like the new 86: Subaru reliability with Toyota-like power.

Even worse, is that companies are kind of leaving the 2 door market; it just doesn’t sell as well as the 4 door counterpart. Golf/GTI/R, now only 4 door (in the US at least); 90%+ of Wranglers are 4 doors; good luck getting a single cab truck anymore from anyone (that isn’t a commercial model); 2 door Accord is

2021 Celica confirmed?

I was on the fence about having kids

That was an error. Fixed.

Hot take: 10 years ago when I lived in Toronto, down the street from my place sat a decrepit 1985 Lotus Esprit S2; had no engine and the transmission was completely seized up. Guy wanted $2,500 for it. If I had the moneys, I would’ve totally bought and converted it to an EV. YES, YES I WOULD, FIGHT ME.
