I’m hopeful, the trailer reminds me how much I liked Unbreakable (the call back on the music cues in the trailer is enough to give me goosebumps), but the setup, at least as the trailer hints, feels really lame. I’d rather this be a sequel that just hits the ground running, rather than doing this psych-ward “meet the

Anyone else find James Gunn a bit overrated? The way he lost the job for GotG3 was idiotic and reactionary, and now Disney has almost no way to move forward in a way with that franchise that won’t feel like a loss. But the vibe following that decision that he’s this unique auteur is not one I buy into. His pre-GotG

I took part of his delusions being that he over-estimated his importance. I think he, probably rightly, understood the job couldn’t be done without him, and kind of figures he’d be able to skate by relatively free of consequence.

Frankly I’ve never understood why they haven’t tried to write a new character and create some new stories with a different take.

The show is so half assed I wonder if anyone on the crew ever bothers watching the finished product and seeing how lazy it comes across? That dance sketch was one joke that wasn’t all that funny to start with (dance crew dances to game show themes) but then on top of that it was just lazy, like they spent the whole

Let’s remember his dad did a song about Freddy Krueger.

Ugh this got cancelled? Between this and Grinder Fox is breaking my heart with criminally cancelled comedies.

Yeah, as much as I love a good ad-lib story, this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The entire reason for the joke in the first place is the connection.

I don’t disagree, but something about making it a sequel makes me feel like then you have to get out of the magical realism concept and into the mechanism of it at least a bit. I was just trying to remember if the first film already laid that groundwork or not.

Ha, was gearing up to post something similar. I imagine sound designers think they’re being cute or clever and making a nod to film history, but at this point its just lazy and boring, it was never an interesting noise, but were it was once fun its now just distracting.

I’m trying to remember, was the time loop ever explained in the movie? Or is it just kind of a random super power this girl has?

Mansell’s Lux Auterna is definitely one that gets blasted out there a lot, from my recollection I want to say its the arrangement done for Two Towers trailer that really pushed it into the movie-trailer consciousness:

It was Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, and I question what you read or listened to, because that’s not really at all the gist of what she actually said (especially the “asks her husband to help her out at acid dropping parties” bit). This is like a game of telephone, except here its people hearing some nugget, getting

Traditionally Dick didn’t wear a cowl, just a mask covering his eyes.

I’m sure its some kind of reboot with Sam Jackson’s Shaft handing it off to his son or some other boring nonsense...

B- is too generous, this is a bad, dumb movie that doesn’t have a single memorable or fun action set piece to give it some momentum. C- territory at best, with a big fat downgrade into D-grade territory for the lazy desperate sequel tag at the end.

The end result is kind of a half ass ad for a professional ad company though...like I get that they probably didn’t want to waste too much time or money on a late night bit, but then why agree to do it in the first place if you’re gonna be so lazy about it?

I have to admit it was an embarrassingly long time before I realized “Actual Items” was a parody bit. I wasn’t at all familiar with Jay Leno’s Headlines and would just watch Conan’s bits thinking they were actually finding craziness that haphazard newspaper editors were somehow allowing to be published.
