Black Adams matter!
Was very reluctant to bother with this show, as I find post-pandemic story-telling to be a pretty saturated well I’m tapped out on, but tuned in because I do like Mackenzie Davis so figured I’d at least give it a shot. My biggest surprise, beyond the earnest enjoyment of the show, is despite Mackenzie Davis being my…
What’s the timeline on filming these shows? How does it work exactly that a renovation process that’s being filmed for a tv show goes over timeline (these are projects that were started in 2019?!) and over budget but no one on the production side of the show notices or cares until outrage ferments on instagram?
Swore off this website after the first article’s lazy desperate click whoring. Came back just to see if the comments from that article might have encouraged a more nuanced and thoughtful take after the fact.
+1 if anyone could recommended AV Club alternates please drop them here. I’m done supporting this garbage site and writers.
Ha, my first thought was with ownership of Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal’s popularity on streamers, maybe bringing Fuller back for the fabled season 4.
But how is it more/less terrible than to take ANY animal and murder and skin them? We care about the pets because it effects US, not because it’s in any way more cruel than what we already do. I think it’d be an interesting touch to acknowledge that hypocrisy as part of her backstory.
I kind of wish the film used Cruella to get a little bit at the hypocrisy of society and meat I mean, she’s not a character who hates Dalmatians, she’s a character that loves fashion, and salvation fur is just an ultimate get for her. The through line of giving her “villainy” some play should be casting the light on…
I like Rick & Morty, and I have gotten sucked into the YouTube rabbit hole of Robot Chicken on more than one occasion, and unlike many others here I actually find the different animation style here really refreshing, so this seems up my alley.
Well to be clear, royalties/residuals on any movies Spyglass now owns have to continue to be paid out. What Spyglass doesn’t have to pay out are the box office backend points on movies that were released before their purchase. Which makes sense, its hard to argue for box office revenue sharing on movies they didn’t…
Bruce Timm is fine, but IMO none of his animated superhero stuff really clicks like BTAS, Superman, or Batman Beyond these days, always feels like an imitation. I tend to think the really alchemy of those shows was the combo of Timm, Burnett, and Dini (Dini also wrote the story for the 1st Arkham game!). Maybe Reeves…
“I’m struggling to think of a U.K. actor’s North American accent that isn’t comical.)”
I believe the saying is “I keep getting older but the actresses in the Bring it On franchise stay the same age, okay okay okay.”
“Never got why people think Man of Steel was “dreary” or whatever. It literally was about Superman making the world a brighter place and inspiring people.”
Though I think it would have been more interesting if Crosshair was just someone who aligned more with the Empire point of view, instead of it being about the chip. Means we’ll get some inevitable plot point about deactivating the chip yada yada…
AND characters from his duology, since Jamie Foxx is confirmed.
And because of people like Kimberly Sue Moran, the police will NEVER solve the r̶i̶d̶d̶l̶e̶ case of the man found stabbed to death with nothing but a glass of water mixed with blood by his bedside.
I actually remember reading Ready Player One around the same time as The Martian and being surprised at how similar I found the writing styles. The reviewer here calls it conversational, that might be an apt word, at the time I struggled to put my finger on it, I thought maybe a casual style influenced mainly by blogs…
Like figure out who was going to win the 2050 Super Bowl, and then bet the aliens for the fate of the planet!
As has been pointed out on twitter, the NFT is especially embarrassing as its mainly just using a 3D head model of Boseman that someone else created and made freely available online, the “artist” did pretty minimal work, but at least its all 50% for charity.
