The Maverick is a body-update to the Escape, not a ground up new vehicle.

Is there anything on the market that gets the same MPG with truck like capabilities? I know there are similar CUVs or bigger trucks to haul everyone’s 2nd home around, but how many get 40+ mpg city with MSRP even close to $26k while still having that much trunk & people space?

Sounds like people do in fact want cheap/fuel efficient vehicles more than vehicles loaded down with extra crap....

I ordered mine as a replacement for my F150, plenty of truck for 99% of what I need at over double the fuel economy and I can always borrow a half ton if I need to.

It’s funny you say that. I want a Maverick as an alternative to a Civic - essentially i see the Maverick as a sedan with a more flexible trunk (when equipped with a cover). People comparing it to a TRUCK are missing the appeal to a lot of buyers.
