The Maverick is a body-update to the Escape, not a ground up new vehicle.

Is there anything on the market that gets the same MPG with truck like capabilities? I know there are similar CUVs or bigger trucks to haul everyone’s 2nd home around, but how many get 40+ mpg city with MSRP even close to $26k while still having that much trunk & people space?

Sounds like people do in fact want cheap/fuel efficient vehicles more than vehicles loaded down with extra crap....

I ordered mine as a replacement for my F150, plenty of truck for 99% of what I need at over double the fuel economy and I can always borrow a half ton if I need to.

This... seems like a bad, needlessly dismissive take.

It’s funny you say that. I want a Maverick as an alternative to a Civic - essentially i see the Maverick as a sedan with a more flexible trunk (when equipped with a cover). People comparing it to a TRUCK are missing the appeal to a lot of buyers.

Still beats banging in front of an electric space heater, though.

The risks of using a garbage disposer outweigh any benefit they provide.

shear force is also why slamming vinaigrette ingredients back in forth in a sealed container creates a more stable emulsification than whisking

If it helps any, the eCVT is not a traditional CVT, or even a transmission really. It’s two motors, one is connected to the engine and acts as a generator, while the other connects to the axles to drive the truck. A clutch engages to connect the engine to the drive motor at highway speeds.  The transmission is not

I think it’s gonna be way easier to put steelies on a yellow truck than to put yellow on a steelies truck.

If you told me 10 years ago that the only new car I’d be interested now in was a FWD hybrid pickup, I’d reasonably assume you’re insane (both for the prediction, and because you’re claiming to be a time traveler, and probably all the other tales of the past couple years you’d end up sharing).

First, there’s a little character line in the door, under the beltline that’s deliberately designed to suggest the Ford F-150's distinctive jogged window line. It’s subtle, but a nice little tie-in to the Ford truck heritage.

This thing is a call back truck to the good old days of the F-100 work truck I used to drive. No B.S., just a basic truck you can use. Those 2x4 slots in the bed are genius. The bed is really short, but that trick with the tailgate being level with the wheel wells is just good design too. And, damn, I love those

I am cautiously excited, not gonna lie. Not in position for year 1, but year 2 it’s looking like a much better option for me than the Hyundai.

I’m surprised at how close the two beds are in length. I’d have thought - from pictures - that the Maverick’s bed was a good 6 inches or more longer than the Santa Cruz.

Wait, I didn’t realize he was sleeping *in* the car. What in the hell?  Spend a few bucks on two tents and call it a day!

It’s not a typical CVT, so it shouldn’t have the “rubber band effect" that most actual CVTs have.
