2005 Prius - 198K when I sold her last year. Worked absolutely great, probably b/c she was well-maintained. My mechanic’s loaner Priuses sometimes had ~285K and ran smoother than mine! I’m sure that it’ll go for much longer, but ended up buying a LEAF and didn’t need 2 vehicles, especially during a pandemic.

This was exactly my experience at Nissan. We were only going to get the low price offered if we accepted the stupid financing. (We went into the matter expecting to pay for the car in full. Long story, lots of saving, debt averse, etc.) We asked if we could pay the loan off in full right away, but they said that we

OMG. Everyone in our company used to get a Hamilton Beach freebie after every company meeting. When we all got griddles, it didn’t take long for them to adopt the “Cornballer” nickname because they burned the crap out of all of us. Beware that even the handles on these things get incredibly hot.

As someone who just had to look this up as my elderly FL dad who just experienced TP price gouging this very morning, I found this official definition in the FL statutes:

I had this happen, except when trying to make “candied” bacon under the broiler. ...Oh and there was also a dramatic fire with the grease-soaked parchment paper that I couldn’t put out on my own. Woke up the poor roommate for that one.

If mailing anything to NYC, make sure you’re mailing to an address with a door person, your work, or somewhere where you have an agreement to tip for packages. I had so many packages stolen from my building... or in the case of a UPS fail... they left my box ON THE STREETS OF NYC. ...As for those “space bags,” I used

As someone who worked 7 years in grocery stores, I can attest that there are plenty of “quirky” customers (also a ton of shoplifters too. OMG. I now can’t unsee them everywhere now, but that’s another story.) For example, there are the people who think barcode scanners do something awful to their food and require

At my last job, a dog at our office had to get emergency surgery to get a mass of these Greenies removed from his gut. It was really scary, and we weren’t sure if Ranger was going to make it. :( Luckily, they got it out and he survived... but OMG be warned of the risk! His human mom had no idea this could happen. PS

Aging raver? Check.

OMFG. This needs more stars!!

That’s a really good point.  PS I got a vintage Soda King at an estate sale for $10. Better price point AND ethics.

I’ve owned one of these for a couple years now. It’s AMAZING. First of all, it auto adjusts based upon the weather. I can set the schedule from anywhere too. (No more running out to the garage control box in the rain to turn the sprinklers off -like I had to with our old system.) 2nd - We received a rebate from our

In terms of using a specific device, I’m a big fan of Sowden’s coffee pots. They’re simple porcelain pots with a stainless steel filter. No plastic. All reusable. Dishwasher safe. Modern design. Great for both hot and cold brew coffee, so one unit does double duty. They have some new fun colors in a special

From years of working in coffee shops making cold brew in beastly 12 qt Cambro containers, I tend to avoid gadgets and keep it simple. Using basket-style 12 cup coffee filters (typically used for commercial brewers), I make little satchels of coffee tied up with butcher’s twine. Use any container that is large enough.

YES. Mint Milanos are a game changer. Mmmmmmmm.

Yeah, I haven’t seen a recycling provider that accepts those pouches. I’d rather buy in a bottle that I can recycle. -Also, if you’re looking to be better for the environment, I’d recommend buying a locally-made, B corp, super concentrated, and/or biodegradable laundry detergent.

Oh! Oh! They have a video on how to prepare your pans before use. This definitely explains a couple of my bundt fails in the past.

Nordic Ware has such a sexy instagram account. It might give you bundt cake fever, though. -PS They have some cool factory shots once in a while too.

About 10 years ago, I was riding Amtrak from NYC to the south. In the middle of the night, a man was asked about his bag, identified it as his, and then was escorted off the train. O_o It still freaks me out to this day.

Does it remind anyone of the old skool Tinkerbell makeup for kids from the 80s? The boy brow was so barely there that it felt like mostly make believe. I bought it twice and feel super ripped off. -That being said, I use both their foundation and concealer every day b/c those give me enough coverage.
