It was a fair grade for an episode of Succession, but there’s kind of a curve. A “B” for an episode of Succession is like an A-/B+ for any other show.

LoL it’s like you reached directly into my brain. Before the baking actually started, as a fellow Eastern Mediterranean guy I was Team George. And his flavor profile aligns closely with my own personal tastes. But I don’t know if it’s the pressure or time management or what but he’s consistently sloppy just like you…
Chigs definitely earned it this week.
Honestly, I think it’s worse than that. It feels like Nolan sometimes thinks he’s so smart that he doesn’t have to connect the dots.
When I make a chicken shawarma or lamb gyro or falafel sandwich one of my favorite things to throw in is a couple slabs of fried halloumi or nabulsi cheese.
I think he was a pretty relatable audience surrogate — at least I related to him re: times I have been in over my head — until he made the choice to walk away from a guaranteed $250M inheritance from his grandfather to throw his lot in with Logan. He was never perfect or heroic, never even an arguably “good person”.…
They’re still out there. Openly planning — openly continuing — their coup efforts.
Sweet christ I have never actually paid attention to any of the lyrics to that song beyond the chorus. I thought it was perfectly innocuous, progressive even. But wow it is indefensible.
Former journalist here.
I’m concerned with the idea of this being a “psychological thriller”. I think the strength of the original piece lay in “Robert” straddling the line between manipulative and pathetic, and “Margot” second guessing herself for either legitimate reasons or reasons that society had conditioned her to believe are legitimate…
Agree 100%.
I think Murphy has apologized for “Raw” and the homophobic shit he’s said in the past. I’m not LGBTQ so it’s not my place to accept his apology or anything, just something worth noting. If you believe people can change, and they can be forgiven, he’s at least a candidate. Maybe it’s too little too late, IDK.
I like him too. I like the character and I like Renner. I know he’s become something of a punchline because his “super power” is being really good at shooting arrows while he’s part of a team that includes an alien sky god, a dimension travelling wizard, a human tank, etc. But it’s a comic book.
It is an interesting reminder re: RBG, who became memefied by the Left and made into something of a loveable mascot and now something of a secular saint, that while she was reliably liberal, she wasn’t batting a thousand across the board.
Sounds legit!
Curious re: the strategy behind this. Does it make it more likely for viewers to continue with the series? Are they nervous about the first episode alone not being enough to hook viewers?
Probably a dumb analogy but it feels like the Chappelle special was somewhat of a brush fire that would have eventually gone away on its own until Netflix corporate decided to put it out by dousing it with gasoline.
I don’t have an issue with the mimicry. It’s crazy good. And you have to hustle in this business; I get why Costa did it. Make good shit and put it out into the universe, make things happen, etc etc.
This. They think it will be a giant paint ball game.
