We do have this. Gun nuts show up to Starbucks and other private businesses en mass with real guns on the reg to intimidate the hell out of normal folks and make some kind of statement about their dicks.

It was awesome at the time. In retrospect, it just feels all sorts of wrong and indoctrinatey, especially now that I’m a parent.

Not familiar with contemporary GI Joe but the GI Joe of my childhood was equally messed up. I do think Rambo comes out as worse considering it’s based on really violent/adult-themed source material.

Crazy! Sanders supporters losing their shit over insufficient ideological purity, undermining minority concerns, and attacking a female candidate? I never would have seen this coming.

Can we talk about the fact that there was a Rambo cartoon in the mid-80s, along with Rambo action figures (if I remember correctly, adorned with painted-on-scars), complete with plastic weapons and ridiculously sized combat knives?

Oh this definitely becomes a fun exercise when you start looking at the Senate. Forty five of America’s 100 senators are over 65; and the average age is around 64. This includes five senators who are in their 80s and four senators who have been in office for more than 30 years.

Among many Trump’s faults is that he is too damn old. Biden is also too damn old.

Many organizations have a mandatory retirement age of 65. If we were to be generous, we could stipulate that a president must be inaugurated before their 65th birthday - meaning a president could begin what is arguably one of the most

CF is brutal. I was floored to learn Yelchin had it after his death. The physical demands of being a prolific actor (long hours on set, stunts, using your body as a tool in every single scene) must have been exponentially harder on him - and yet he exceled. This indicates not only a tremendous talent but a prodigious

So I love Workaholics. But could not sit through Adam DeVine’s latest standup special. Sketch/improv and standup require different tools, so I suppose that’s not entirely unsurprising. But it also makes me wonder how much daylight there is between DeVine and the fratty dudebro characters he plays.

As part of my graduation requirements I had to earn credits through an internship, set up by the school. I got to work at a magazine, in downtown Manhattan, which at the time was basically my dream job in my dream career and my dream city. I was incredibly nervous.

Blaming generous tippers for the reason waitstaff can’t earn a living wage is some reverse trickle-down voo doo economics shit.

Had this happen just yesterday. I’ve had automatic gratuity for large parties, sure. But this was my wife and I, our baby, and one other couple.

Thanks. I guess I knew a lot of this stuff as history but never really thought about how turbulent it must have been to live through it, especially the specter of nuclear war. It adds up to... quite a lot.
