Word is that the inline 6 is slated for the next gen Mazda 6 (and CX-9?). Apparently they are also developing a RWD platform for it. There was some talk that both the RWD platform and the inline 6 may see service in a future Lexus too. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

The big problem is that Mazda is so small it doesn’t have the cash to invest in electrified tech. That said, last week they signed an agreement with Toyota to supply a Skyactiv-X inline-6 to Toyota in exchange for the ability to use Toyota’s THS II hybrid system in its cars, including a Mazda 3 Hybrid.

If the Cayman GT4 didn’t exist, I’d be all over this thang.

You’re going to be so disappointed when you hear what they make the F150 Platinum out of.

Now playing

hybrid is a good way to keep the naturally aspirated engine in the GT series 911's. it needs torque to keep up with the regular turbo cars. if you’ve driven a 918 you’ll know that NA-hybrid is a sublime experience, with torque in low and mid provided by electric, with the NA engine allowed to do it’s thing at high

Another theory as to why Reno sells more manual transmissions could be because the location’s general manager (which would be me) is a Jalopnik reader and gearhead who’s daily drivers are a Boxster S and a Carrera 4S.

What makes this and the CLA different other than size?  I mean it seems like they will just compete with each other and the A220 will be the new “I own a Merc at age 25!” car.

“Oh, cool, a new Supra. That should be a good competitor to the Mustang and Camaro”

Wow. So we get a Supra without Toyota reliability, a relatively high price, two engines with the highest output only being 335hp, and no manual transmission.

Thats not a terrible idea, even if it is a tad insulting to my manual-loving sensibilities. I’m the type where they’re going to have to rip my manual shifter from my cold dead hands, so I would honestly pay a premium for a manual, were it offered as a $1500 option or something. Not offering one at all (and I mean

But for those of us who REALLY prefer manuals (and I very much include myself in that category), not offering one means your car simply doesn’t even get considered. They just need to start charging more for the manual, just like automatics used to cost more, to cover the alleged costs. I’ve never bought a new car with

Of course it happened because of speed. That’s Newton’s First Law.

Anything in excess of 10 seconds will almost kill you!!!!

What do you want them to do, walk wailing repentance through the street whipping themselves with spiked belts?

It’s a great looking coupe, and the spiritual successor to the legendary E46 M3. Anyone else not a fan of the rear end though? Those taillights just don’t flow with the overall design of the car. Besides that, I can’t think of anything I’d change.

Is Hyundai really a low-end economy brand, though? I mean, sure, they don’t have the 6-figure halo cars that other brands have made, but if you look at their bread-and-butter, they’re pretty competitive. A Santa Fe starts only about $3600 cheaper than a Honda Pilot, and pretty much every model they offer can be kitted

Posted the same and 100% agree. GT Silver is the best silver. Looks fluid and somehow almost lights from within.

I do like a good silver.. clearcoat with a nice warm metal flake.

well we are jalops. I fall into the category of “will never buy an automatic unless i lose a limb.”
