I sometimes I can tell the people around the office that truly earned an appreciate what they have versus those who haven’t My department VP used to drive an old Accord and would park in the cheaper parking garage across the street instead of the one attached to thee office building with valet parking, even though he

LOL! That’s a joke, right?

Trust me, I do too. I only look at my various investment accounts like twice a year. This way I don’t go getting any dumb ideas.

It is because people do the base minimum on budgeting work. I make $X/month, so I can spend $x/month. Just pretending like wages don’t go away or nothing bad will ever happen.

Yeah, pretty much this. I was in a dealership not too long ago waiting for a part, and a couple came in looking to buy a specific used truck that was on the lot. They got irrationally angry when they learned that the money they owed on the car they wanted to trade in didn’t just get wiped from the books if they got a

I learned it in the 90's in school.

They do teach it, people just do not pay attention.

AMEN.

Who exactly is getting a high-paid job without hard work or skill?

Yeah, I grew up broke as shit. Like so broke that even with food stamps and food pantries, I would regularly have to skip meals. A lot of work on my part and a lot of luck I can now walk into a Porsche dealership and buy anything new they have on offer and not have to change my lifestyle.

The length of the loan is forever, because the customer is going to do the same thing again long before it’s paid off.

At least 5 years, maybe as much as 7 depending on how much they fleeced him in the finance department.

They get high-paying jobs through anything but hard work or skill and therefore don’t have the brains or appreciation for money and waste it like toilet paper.

$1,700 more than mine.

The guy is trying to buy a ~$90k car while being $29k underwater and only has $7500 to put down. Assuming a 6.5% car tax (this is a guess) and a 10% interest rate (no way this guy is in single digits), you hit that $2500 with 60 months of payments.

I have no idea how people can be so bad with money.

The only judging he is doing is the monthly amount.  If you gave him a $2500/month payment for 30 years to get a Bentley you know what he would be rolling out of the dealership with.

How shall I judge that monthly payment without knowing the length of the loan?

Its 3.5x the escrow for my house.

That’s about $1000 more than my mortgage....  (And my car payments are currently $0.)  I can’t even imagine that level of financial irresponsibility.
