I’m exactly the same. I thought that would have been a perfect ending, and yet, the ending we got turned me into a puddle.

I may just be a dullard, but I had to read the first sentence of this review several times to understand what was being said. The entire first paragraph was problematic. Or, again, I’m just a dummy.
Agreed on both counts. Ed Wood is still his best film, but Batman Returns is my favorite Batman movie, hands down. It’s the only Bat-flick to fully embrace both the darkness AND the silliness of Batman and his world, proving you really can have it both ways.
When the movie finally gets to the Muppet Theater, all of that stuff is great. I remember seeing this in the theater and thinking “Oh wow, they FINALLY got there.” But it was a fleeting moment.
Worked on me!
I really got a kick out of “It Follows”. My wife hated it. I can see why, but I still enjoyed it.
Absolutely! For some reason I vividly recall reading a piece in our local newspaper about how “Batman” (1989) was going to be released on home video only 9 months after it left theaters, and how this SUPER FAST turnaround signaled a changing trend in home video releases. Fast forward to today, when Jumanji:WttJ has…
I very much wanted to see this when I was a kid, but I missed it in the theaters. At that time, you had to wait a looooong time for movies to be released on VHS, so I signed up on a wait list at the local video store, and read the novelization to tide me over. It took about two years for the movie to be released on…
Ordered the vinyl set! Briefly considered getting the cassettes as well, but then I was like “what the fuck am I gonna do with these tapes?” and wisely reconsidered. $80+ (after shipping cost) is kind of a punch in the dick, but I’ve definitely spent more for less. Besides, it’s something like spring right now, and…
That’s not going to be enough to convince me.
Who actually eats Jelly Beans? I assumed they were just for decoration.
Same. I was about to “rip into this horseshit”, and then Pooh showed up and now I’m dabbing my eyes and what the fuck is wrong with me???
“I’m not a Frenchie, I’m a Belgie!”
Oh man, my folks took me to see Private Eyes at the theater, and I loved every minute of it. It was up there with Murder By Death as one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.
Joe Dante/Dick Miller reference. You’re my new best friend.
Yes, Boomerang in a Superior Foes show would be the best!
I buy every sealed, card-carrying copy of Mr. T and the T-Force #1 that I find for a buck or less. I have...several.
Why would you make that assumption? I think Scissorhands is cute, but that’s about it. In my estimation Burton has one masterpiece, and that’s Ed Wood. Beyond that, he has some solidly great movies (Beetlejuice is the first to come to mind), but hasn’t made a good one since Big Fish. Regardless, Batman Returns is my…
100% agreed. I was in love with Batman 1989 when I was a kid, but as an adult, it hasn’t aged well at all. It’s stiff, strangely airless and dull, and to me, the Prince songs are uniformly terrible and ill fit for the film.
Well, again, not really a Beatles fan, but oddly enough, I’m a big defender of Ringo. He played with taste and delivered exactly what was needed.
