These are importable into Canada and there are several around the lower mainland. This one belongs to HPA’s owner, which is fitting as HPA built multiple twin-turbo’d RSi and RSi clones. It’s basically an R32 with cartoonish headroom and more lateral grip.

Yeah, a followup vid might be in the cards. I will just say that because the car needs a retune, it’s not like we could hoon it around, but when it’s ready for a rallycross, we’ll get some action!

There are plenty of KP61 builds out there. Not a very common car in BC though, I’ve only seen one or two in the past ten years.

Engine kill switch. Best labelled button I’ve seen locally is a “F-ck Sh-t Up” red button on the ~700hp HPA Dune, which instantly defeats all stability and traction control.

Yep, as noted there’s a rad, just mounted a bit low. Dry sump might come, because everything’s custom anyway, it can change as needed.

Sony A7II and FE 4 24-105. It is not as artsy as my old Canon/Sigma setup, but it serves my “F7 and be in the right spot” approach. Oh, and a Hoya circular polarizing filter - must-have for any photo stuff.

Lots of interesting comments here about the sad erosion of consumer buying power - a major contribution to the die-off of all kinds of enthusiast cars. I will just note that the “just about everyone can afford” comment is in the subhead only (not penned by me)  and refers solely to the 240Z. In the text, the BRZ is

Congrats on your Cayman, a great choice. New, though, literally more than twice the price of the Subie. The 944 was a bit closer in comparison, inflation-adjusted.

I don’t disagree with you, and loved the Genesis coupe. But, again, it was more than 3500 lbs.

The thing to drive in Tsawwassen is Gary’s Tatra T87.

Maple Ridge, home to Greg Moore’s fave McDonald’s! Nice to meet a fellow local on here - there will be a bit more BC content in the pipeline.

As noted in the piece, the 6'4" Z owner fits just fine in the BRZ. Design is of course subjective (I think the GR86 actually looks better).

My fault for using chassis codes: ND is the 4th gen MX-5, I was talking with a Mazda engineer.

What a really great story, thanks for sharing. Also, doing the math, that’s a mid-1990s Maxima, which is still such a great car.

I once had a meeting with Yamamoto (ND lead eng) where I said, “Boy it really would have been great if you guys had paired with Toyota on the GR86,” and he said “Yes, that really would have been great,” and then we both just looked off into the distance for a while. Oh well.

Probably my collection of Walter Wolf Lamborghinis. The 1/43rd one was a custom-run for the car’s current owner. He has an amazing 1/12th to go with.

Transcript of argument below:

Yep. I didn’t have a press car last week and I drove a 1969 Lotus Seven, a Defender 110 TD5, a 285hp Morris 8, and a DeLorean. Somewhat more interesting than what’s available in the local fleet.

Basically a rental car.
