As everyone has already mentioned the hour plus search for a spot in many neighborhoods, you also can’t forget, “street cleaning” which makes it more difficult to find a spot, in addition to the $100 parking ticket if you happen to forget to move you’re car. And in many area’s there is only metered and no permits.

20 years ago when I was living on Russian Hill (in a crappy basement apartment that was as cheap as I could find) I turned down a job that involved a car commute because I didn’t want to deal with the 45 minute search for parking every night. I doubt it is any better now.

Emily it helps to mention data you are citing comes from an Uber investor = Mary Meeker from the investment firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers = invest in Uber = not exactly impartial data.

I haven’t owned a car for twenty years. I was lucky to spend most of that time in Chicago, which has great (comparatively) public transit, a lot of taxis, Uber and Lyft. It was almost never a problem. I think I needed a car five times in fifteen years.

Too lazy? You must not live in the city. A lot of neighborhoods you will never find a spot. Also, you still have to obey parking times and meters.

Upward price pressure on your home is fine if you’re planning to sell in the near term and downsize into something less expensive or move to a lower cost of living area. Otherwise if you’re looking to upsize you are not going to get much benefit from the rising price, and over time the assessed value of your home will

I only sort of understand that perspective. Because ok, sure, upward pressure on house prices is nice if you sell, but you still have to output the cost of housing somehow. After you sell, you’re either buying somewhere else or you’re renting somewhere, and the increased prices still impact you.

Interesting thing about English, and also many other languages: sometimes words have more than one meaning. A tax is a compulsory contribution to state revenue, yes, but it is also a strain or burden. A binder is a type of notebook and also a cohesive. A trunk is the thick woody stalk of a tree, and also an elephants

Isn’t there a shit ton of empty apartments and condos in NYC due to “foreign investment?” Maybe if you tax unoccupied dwellings at a higher tax rate, you could get more housing into the market.

Upper West Side?

Considering the state of police nowadays, the odds of that 911 caller trying to get him killed are pretty damn high.

Upper West Side. There’s your problem. Someone thought he wasn’t one of the “right kind” of people in the area. Fuckin’ cops.

Words have meaning, especially in the legal sense. Manslaughter isn’t murder in the 1st degree. Both involve killing someone. Rape and statutory rape both involve sex, but are different. Some people prefer to be specific with their language, you should allow them that choice.

The upside being that he’ll be completely forgotten within 5 years.

Not only did he dab, he said “Dab” right as he dabbed.

There is a very strong part of me that wants to become this guys friend. Get in the “inner inner” circle of his army. Become a general. A very respected and important member.

And of course the Splits Guy is his fucking brother.

I thought we covered that on “insane whiteboy shit”

Footage of this guy is the best ISIS recruiting video ever.
