Did everyone have like ONE friend who had almost all of these though?  I had that one kid whose parents were split up and vying for his affection and had EVERY good toy and EVERY NES game and being able to go over to his house and play with them was just about as good as having all that stuff myself.

Exactly this. I just finished watching the original for the first time about a month ago, and it’s absolutely 10/10. It really holds up incredibly well.

It doesn’t look bad but also put me in the camp of people who don’t really feel this needs a live action adaptation in any way. I want new avatar, not more of the same with a different coat on it.
