The beginning of Dragon Warrior (and I assume Dragon Quest) IV, Chapter 5, shocked the shit out of me as a kid.

I still remember that. The game was brutal in the best way. I finally figured out that Shield blocks magic missiles, and so beat him by shielding up a single character, then having him go forward while everyone else stayed out of sight and soaking up all the magic missiles. After that the mage was pretty defenseless.

I still remember the encounter with the mage-assassin at the inn near the beginning of the game, and how he would repeatedly slaughter my party with his swarms of magic missiles. I’m the kind of player who plays on the easiest setting and reloads until everyone survives because I don’t want to miss anything awesome

Duke is exactly the kind of very blunt character that we need in the world today.

This is totally badass and I want more.

Carbonite Solo is brilliant. What a creative idea.

The first soundtrack I ever owned and played the hell out of was the 2-record set for A New Hope. My dad was browsing the records at the mall and asked if I wanted to get something too. I had no idea what anything was but I recognized Star Wars... when I got home I was so confused; I only recognized about half of it.

As the father of a 5-yr old and 2-yr old, I hear ya. Fortunately there are so many great free (or nearly free) games out there, I don’t feel bad when I can only play them a little.

In most games I’ve experienced, both guilds need to agree to a war if one is within whatever safe areas exist. Is that not the case in EVE?

What’s up with the weird purple thing on the phone the guy at 1:07 is waving around? Another bizarre alt-right conspiracy?

All of this. I didn’t like it much, personally, but JFC, where did all this anger come from? Russian trolls & bots? That makes me feel a bit better.

Seems a little backwards, right? Shouldn’t they be assuming all these calls are “pranks” until confirmed otherwise?

That Penguin is very cool.

It’s the dramatic slo-mo action shot as the hero leaps through the (air/door/window/etc) to confront the bad guy! This is what says “shit’s about to get real, yo!” You can’t take that out! Sacrilege.

I don’t get the robots/mechs/cyborgs with the tiny feet thing. Sure, gyroscopes or whatever, but it looks so unstable and weird to me.

I downloaded Dragon Age: Origins when EA was giving it away as a freebie a while ago (I don’t know if it still is). I loved Baldur’s Gate and all it’s sequels and spin-offs (Planescape FTW) so I thought this would be a no-brainer. But I played DA:O for a few hours, went “man, I’m just not feelin’ it” and haven’t

Don’t punch down. It’s pretty simple.

Her parents don’t necessarily need to be special, but her uniquely strong untrained powers do need some sort of explanation, or at least recognition that they’re unusual.

The tiny cybernetic feet, is that a thing now? I need this explained to me, because it just looks weird and distracting, like they’re always just about to fall over.
