Taking air out of your tires will give you a wider contact patch which can sometimes help, but more often than not you actually want skinny tires for snow.

Detroit isn't a good venue for an Auto Show that needs to compete with the monster shows that happen in Europe. Especially if it's held in mid-January. I don't think one can argue with that.
