Guys, he’s clearly just kidding around with us...right?
Thanks! You probably know who Fred Merkle was, but maybe it’s funnier if you didn’t.
Sorry if this was one of those satirical posts, and I didn’t get it at first. It’s so bad, I’m thinking it must be, right?
Looks like the Braves are looking to write Moneyball II. Old guys whose best years are behind them is the new market efficiency.
There is no obsession with batting average. But in the scenario you described, the first hitter gave his team a better chance to win over the second one. Over 162 games, that guy is the much better player.
I heard him on Bay Area radio this spring, and I was hoping he’d make it just because he was such an engaging interview.
Biggest FOOTBALL flaws.
Roger- this is Deadspin. People make jokes. He even said “zing” afterwards.
I enjoy the piquant aftertaste of getting hit by a car.
Boo.
Don’t call it a comeback. He had been there for years.
If it makes you feel any better, he probably wouldn’t have hit too many home runs for the Orioles.
Maybe so, but if my aunt had balls she wouldn’t bump her ass when she hopped.
As a Giants fan, I was wondering why Goldschmidt wasn’t playing (is he hurt?) and who replaced Arenado with some shell of his former self. I’m sure he’ll still hit about 9 HR against the Giants this year, though.
Nuanced, measured opinions like this have no business on the internet, Old Man!
“It’s illegal to do if you make contact, because that is dangerous.”
Back in my day if you so much as spiked the ball you’d get a fastball to the ear your next time up.
That is pretty weird. But what is the rationale for why he went back to hitting 18 home runs? It’s not like they started testing in 1997. Don’t you think that after hitting 50 home runs, he would want to keep on doing that? Also, looks like ‘97 was a contract year, not ‘96.
The irony for me is, as someone who lives in California, Hispanics ARE the working class.
