From what I understand the vent was only on the first few hundred (possibly launch edition) in the states. I think the newer ones and the euro spec will be without the extra vent. I’m not 100% sure, I’m going off a conversation I had with a knowledgable friend about two months ago.

I thought that vent was tacked on while they were in port here in The U.S. I guess the transmission was overheating while idling and that duct allows air to cool it.

A good friend had one for 12 years, he drove it like a rental from the day he got it in 1997, he changed the oil maybe 10 times in 150k miles, never did anything to the car but put gas in it. I drove it once while helping him move, I could not get over how well it rode, the steering feel was amazing the transmission…

I like how it looks from this angle, I’d keep it. You are right on the holes and paint touchups, probably not worth the cost to remove and fix unless it actually drives you nuts or does something weird to the aero. Did they deactivate the pop-up when they attached the fixed wing? I know thats how the Cayman R is setup…
