Ok...if they won’t budge on making Election Day a paid holiday, compromise and mandate that Election Day be on a Saturday instead of a Tuesday.

Look, I get that things are really awful in Venezuela and that Maduro has been running the country into the ground. It sucks, and I wouldn’t fault the people of Venezuela one bit for rising up against that shit.

Ranked voting can build momentum, but it has to start small, locally - where there’s less resistance and less money involved.

I’m pretty sure he won’t win. He’ll just fragment the (largely Democratic) not-Trump vote and make 2016 look like “the good old days.”

With that kind of money, I’d finally have the resources to get my army of robot spiders operational. And then running for President would be kind of a moot point.

Yeah, the last independent to come anywhere close to winning a presidential election in recent memory was Ross Perot in 1992...and he only got 19% of the popular vote and zero electoral college votes.

Yeah, the likelihood of having to relocate to some shitty little border town in the desert SW is plenty of incentive not to apply. Even if you could stomach the work for a semi-decent paycheck and the promise of a pension in 30 years, do you really want to live someplace that gets to 115 in the shade and has scorpions

Unless he’s willing to either try to primary Trump by leveraging the moderate Republican never-Trumpers, or suck it up and run as a Democrat....he can sit down and shut the hell up.

Flattering, in a way (I guess). Had Steinbeck’s name not been somehow associated with it, it might have gotten less notice, though.

My bad. Too late to edit. Seems to be a widespread misattribution across the internet, though.

Disappointing, yet not really all that surprising.

I don’t know...my expectations for episode 2 are pretty muted. I really enjoyed most of the first LiS and BTS, but something just didn’t click for me with episode 1 of LiS2.

The problem is that there are no “good guys” in this scenario. Supporting either side is ethically and operationally problematic, just for different reasons.

Ugh. We’re a platoon of Maduro loyalists storming the embassy away from an expensive and poorly defined police action in Venezuela, aren’t we?

Would looking like giant, talking thumb or wearing a Duck Dynasty beard that looked ridiculous with a suit improve your image of him?

TL;DR: The only way to get away from Amazon and their related web services is to go full doomsday prepper in a cabin in the woods, completely off the grid.

Here’s the problem - it’s all falling together too conveniently. Out of all the videos of the kids in question generally acting like douchebags (and that’s pretty consistent across the videos, albeit with more provocation from the Black Israelites), the one that got traction just happened to come from a fake account.

The second video may add some context to the fact that it was a more broadly contentious situation, but the MAGA hat teens were still being asses toward Phillips by not stepping aside to let him pass. Just because other people were being rude to them doesn’t give them license to be rude to a third party. I feel like

It feels like a substantive proportion of online commentary can be written off as potential Russian bot activity. Basically, I find most strong opinions online to be suspicious unless I either know the person expressing them personally or they have a verifiable online history beyond similar shit-stirring.
