NPR did a story about this not long ago and that was the exact point of the person representing the anti-lock side. I think some Parisians object to the aesthetic of it, but the officials were looking at it from a public safety stance: what if one of those bridges became structurally unsound and people were injured?
I

It IS vandalism! I don't get all the pussyfooting—just clip those damn things off as soon as they appear. Where I live (a tourist destination), city workers take down locks as soon as they appear. We don't hold with that sentimental shit.

True. My younger brother was born premature and shortly after visiting him in the pediatric ICU one day I started showing signs of chicken pox. My parents alerted the hospital and they had to vaccinate all the preemies with the chicken pox vaccine. I still feel bad...

You definitely need to put yourself first and try not to worry about what he thinks. Does it really affect you if he thinks it's weird that you suddenly disappear from Facebook? If you end up having to block him, do you really give a shit what he thinks? Accepting a Facebook request doesn't mean he's earned a place

Block! Block block block. Burn those bridges! (I have had this happen a few times too, I guess I just find it hard to trust people who have been douchey in the past.)

Thanks. We're trying. It's mostly my own mother who is the roadblock. I like fiance's family just fine. It's mine that's the problem. If I could get hit on the head with a coconut and forget I ever knew those people I'd do it in a heartbeat. I am pushing for him to do a civil ceremony with me in private so we have our

OH GAWD, his senses were off.

I'm a little creeped out by how casual some people seem to be about those whole 'assaulting others sexually while asleep'. If that person was say, wandering into traffic, driving a car, or getting out a gun, after the first time people would be notifying a doctor, seeking treatment, and figuring out ways to prevent

Hmmmmm...I am an older type chickie, and in my experience, when a guy says "I don't want to break your heart," what he means is, "I would like to be held responsible for breaking your heart, so can we please have sex but not a serious relationship?" :/

Well there are very few people who are great at the things they do. That's the reason the bell curve looks the way it does. I've always thought of it this way, as long as I'm doing the best that I can then it doesn't matter. I'll do what I can to the best of my abilities and try to make the most of my potential.

Based on the article, it sounds like it may have happened once before, according to an ex-girlfriend. Something happening once does not make it a pattern and does not necessarily mean it will happen again.

So, wait. In the very real chance that he was not aware this was happening or even aware he had this condition, he should still be put on a registry?

Probably didn't know. It can take a long time to realise you have TB (like months of unexplained weight loss, persistent cough etc) and because it's not very common anymore, it's often not the first thing doctors will test for unless you specifically know you have been exposed. There's a very good chance the health

They probably didn't know. That's why we medical people are screened once a year. TB has an indolent, nonspecific prodrome. In lay terms, it's slow, and the symptoms aren't glaringly TB. That's why we are torn whenever someone is admitted with an undiagnosed lung lesion. Do we need to put them on full TB precautions,

I volunteered at a hospital weekly in high school 10+ years ago, and even as a volunteer we were regularly required to get a TB test, so I imagine there must be a similar protocol in place for employees. I'm going to guess the former since I can't imagine anyone's first assumption when getting something respiratory is

The hospital claims that the employee was tested properly, which I find believable. I doubt there was negligence involved.

From Sept 2013 to August of this year ? My guess is the employee didn't know they had it. So sad all around. I hope everyone comes out all right.
