That was inartful, I’ll grant you. I really meant that we all don’t want our art to be merely entertaining all of the time. Sometimes I might want my art to be edifying, or challenging, or even inscrutable in addition to being entertaining, and sometimes I just want to ride a rollercoaster.

Who’s the arbiter of what’s entertaining?

“This is my long-winded way of saying that 6.6 billion people can’t convince me that There Will Be Blood is actually a good movie.”

Nor should they. You’re allowed to like what you like and dislike what you dislike. But, same as I can’t convince you that There Will Be Blood might actually belong on the top of this

No, the point of a movie is to communicate ideas, same as all art.

Because quality and consensus are two different things.

In the way that it doesn’t have Jim Carrey talk out of his asshole or say “SMOKIN’” or scream about pet’s heads falling off. You know, it’s not dumb.

P.S. I like all the movies I referenced (although Ace Ventura has not aged well, like at all). Dumb doesn’t equal bad.

I think there are a lot of critical darlings on the list because it’s a list written by 177 critics.

I think all of the films on this list are both, but YMMV. But it’s ok not to be entertained by any of these, the trouble lies when people claim “nobody could really be entertained by any of these.” Well, that just belies a stunning lack of imagination and empathy. There are 6.6 billion people on the planet, every

Or, and this may be crazy, they just liked these movies. Shocking I know, that a group of people may like something you didn’t, or have different arbiters of quality.

Because people like it.

Shocker, I know.

I would. They’re both great, but if I’m ranking them Eternal Sunshine is vastly superior to The Dark Knight.

If they put up a ton of points on Denver, we’ll know if this offense is for real.

They’re not more acceptable, there are just way fewer of them.

That micro SD slot is extremely attractive, as I’d imagine it could be used as your Plex server as well.

Eh, you’ll both die anyway.

If you’re going east, time your flight so that it lands between 7-9am. Then, go go go. Keep moving and doing things until bedtime, around 7-8pm. You’ll sleep the whole night, and bam, clock reset.

Huh, college football became Squamish so gradually that I didn’t even notice.

Does this have anything to do with the OLED revolutions I’ve been hearing so much about?

My wife and I do a version of this. We take out all the fixed expenses at the beginning of the month and then track what we spend daily against whats left over. Simple, clean, and a little fun if I’m being honest.

What about airline rewards cards. Would miles be going away too?
