Maybe a gopro competitor and lightweight tripod? Or, if you want longer lenses, maybe a DSLR that can record 1080p?
Benro tripods are, indeed, pretty good. Not sure about this ‘Aero 4' but the series 2, while made of alu, use magnesium castings to keep the weight down (as do their CF offerings). I like the ones with 3 section legs and no center column.
FWIW, I do not use Diskstation VPN, but instead the one built into my firewall (Snapgear) which makes it dead easy.
Sorry I got back to this forum a tad late - looks like you might have a solution anyway.
I’ll look into Veeam and see what a solution like that costs
If you get hit with crypto, everything you have access to gets encrypted - including on the network. So a VM will help - but only if it hasn’t got access to, well, anything you care about. Personally, I’ve targeted easy-recovery as a solution rather than all sorts of backflips for prevention
If you’re a reporter, I’ve read the problem with hijabs is that the damned things are noisy (lots of rustling around your ears whenever you move) so good luck hearing what’s going on.
I’m pretty happy with qbitTorrent. Open source, so they won’t play games like uTorrent did (I jumped when they first started to ‘monetize’). UI is a lot like uTorrent, only the WebUI works with all browsers.
How do you get it through someone’s skull that a) you need to back up regularly, b) you shouldn’t click Unsubscribe links in spam, c) you need to back up more frequently than that, d) don’t go to sketchy websites, and e) seriously: back dat s### up!?
Ah, yes, the somewhat expectable anti-MS polemic. It’s a matter of market share. How else do you explain the difference between levels of malware for Android (a flavor of Linux) and Win-Phone? Turn that argument around, and anyone using Linux (android) should at some point ask “why?”.
Ransomware has recently gotten a bit scarier. Time was, it wouldn’t encrypt shares on the network. Now there are versions that walk your net use table and go to town.
I’d expect a bluetooth GPS unit to help. I stick one in the crown of my hat when I’m in the woods; better/faster location fix and better battery life
If you look at the responses he’s posted to comments on his videos at youtube, he likes sharp lenses - as in “show every blemish on your model’s face” sharp. He fixes some in post, but mostly doesn’t have to because he also works with “professional makeup artists”. That’d make getting his “face on” before any time in…
Maybe a bit too much “toastmasters 101" presentation, but, IMO, that’s better than just standing there droning along...
Learning lighting? Yeah, me too. I mostly do landscapes, but friends expect me to be able to do a decent portrait.
For photography-as-wallpaper I use Google Image Search
I think most of them had a staffer write “something sincere”...
That’s a decent deal on a decent camera. Thar 18-55 lens is IMO one of Nikon’s better DX lenses. Full D3300 review at dpreview.

This is why I feel so at-home in NZ; I’m far left here, but very middle-of-the-road there. Pity I figured out I liked it there so much when I was to old to emigrate (30+). I figure I’d feel the same way about Aus.
