Agree with everything you said. The Elantra is just not a good looking car - and the N treatment doesn’t help much.

You say that like the entire “hot hatch” segment doesn’t exist and maintain popularity with this exact formula.
We already have enthusiasts buying the (comparatively) greasy, smelly, noisy cars of their grandfathers.
2 Things.
Yep, about 300 pounds heavier than the 2014 m235i xDrive, which weighs more than 200 pounds more than my 228i. That should land the new 230i at around a more reasonable 3,600 pounds, but that’s still a lot.
This car has 4 inches fewer rear leg room than a Civic and weighs about 1,000 pounds more. Obviously having AWD and an extra pair of cylinders makes a big difference, but still.
It weighs more than our last gen SUBARU OUTBACK family hauler. WTF???
That noise. I heard it right there in person when it was racing. Particularly McLaren had distinctive high-pitch, sounded like someone put the high-speed drill in a empty barrel. That noise is intoxicating.
That’s about 500 more than my V6 Camaro... though granted it’ll still whoop my ass in a straight line...at least until I get my supercharger
Two points:
1) The 2003 and 2004 cars qualified slow because they qualified with their starting race fuel load. If they were allowed to run light they’d be just as fast as the modern cars IMO.
Yeah, that weight is just insane. Weighs more than my huge 4-door E90 M3. What did BMW do, make it out of cast iron? Heavy, ugly, small turbo engine, no manual. Perfect modern BMW? Why, because everything else they make is even more crappy?
Who cares about lap time, just enjoying that good old F1 sound...
Holy shit, that’s 200 lbs heavier than my Tesla Model 3 (which means it’s also 200 lbs more than a base 3-series...) I know it’s AWD and the Tesla isn’t, but it’s also a full segment smaller and doesn’t have to lug around a giant brick of electrons.
The V10 era was one of F1's best IMO, so there’s no shame in being beaten by those. Even the current F1 cars are barely faster than the 2003-2004 V10s.
It weighs more than my 4 Series, so yes. The extra 85hp over mine would help. But not being able to fit skis in the back would not.
Me. Okay I didn’t spend $50k but I bought an RDX. I checked out the top-trim RAV4 and the interior was crap. While the above reviewer doesn’t seem to much care for the interior of the RDX it’s pretty nice. Maybe if you were actually sitting at cars instead of just comparing pictures of them online you might understand…
LOL at comparing a RAV4 to this. Have you driven a RAV4? It’s an unpleasant experience.
Good luck finding a Rav4 with that interior for $26k. And a Carnival for $34k looks like a cheap Hertz rental car. I’d argue a Mazda CX5 makes more sense in terms of similar luxury for far less $$
Also, this has SH-AWD, which is objectively good.
It seems to be a common theme with Hondas too. I had an Accord Sport as a rental car the other day and while I was incredibly impressed with its exterior design, feel (steering and transmission/engine refinement were ages better than most other cars in its class) and build quality (components like shifter stalks,…
