If you’re friends with someone who uses her gender to attack women and are fine with her defending Weinstein, you need to spend some real time evaluating your life.

I think Jezebel writers and the organization as a whole believe Epstein is guilty and try to do right by survivors. But “alleged victim” is rape culture jargon that supports the notion that women lie about being raped. There are all sorts of ways to protect yourself legally without throwing victims under the bus.

Praxis--the enactment of theory.

Or “luring” or “trafficking.

I don’t remember who said it, maybe Barbara Ehrenreich? But if you notice a societal norm requiring extreme deprivation or lavish spending or other sacrifice and only women are expected to do it, you know you’re dealing with bullshit.

I’m so sorry for your loss. And horrified (and baffled) by people sending things to her child’s elementary school. Dear god.

Wait, what? George Clooney spends his day chasing corruption?

I read something similar, recently, which was something like, “all the things we take to be ‘human nature’ are in fact the natures of white, western, cis, hetero men.” Think about how rich the diversity of humanity is and how little we know because we’ve all been taught that straight white dudes are the default of

William Golding specifically said that he wrote LotF about upper class boys, because the same story about girls stranded or non-private school ponces doesn’t end the same way.

I mean, I’m not encouraging it, and I would really advise against it with some substances due to the increased risk of death (GHB, opioids, benzos) or mutually reinforcing properties (cocaine). But weed + alcohol + molly doesn’t increase the risk of death and that’s really all I was saying.

(Molly, cannabis, and alcohol won’t combine to kill anyone. Drinking too much could, but based on how much they drank, I’m guessing the implication is they have decently high tolerances to start with.)

I get that this is a common joke/trope, but it’s based on making fun of children who have been sexually abused. Which...doesn’t feel all that funny to me. And I’ve heard from survivors that it feels like mocking them.

I really love Kether Donohue. She’s fantastic as Lindsay and it has meant a lot to see someone who looks like me be unapologetically sexual and beautiful.

What? Teach your kids media literacy and critical thinking. It’s not hard and you can do it without shattering their trust in you.

If you’re on the pill or take other medication by mouth, charcoal can deactivate it.

This sounds incredible.

Great to see the separation of church and state is still going strong.

It’s not the science is “supposedly” saying U=U. The science is in. Undetectable is untransmittable. It’s an incredible win for science and evidence-based medicine.

It’s not a purely medical debate, though. If you are undetectable, you are untransmittable. Meaning zero risk. Meaning that resistance to it is fear based and morality based, not medically based.

We don’t make non-disclosure of any other STI a felony and HIV has just short of a cure.
