I liked it - an interesting insight into one specific culture’s beauty traditions, which seems like a really nice fit for a beauty blog.

I am always drawn to bright, colorful clothing, so I cannot resist wandering into Desigual every time I’m at the mall. Sadly though, I find the store to be a total Monet (as coined by Cher Horowitz). I always think I’ll be able to find something bright and cheery and not totally nuts, and I am always wrong.

I love how Scalia put this in a 2002 essay (unrelated to marriage rights) about the obligations of a public servant when their job duties conflict with their beliefs: “He has, after all, taken an oath to apply the laws and has been given no power to supplant them with rules of his own. Of course if he feels strongly

And even if you ARE checking your hair and makeup - that’s okay too! Here is me, every morning:

Yeah, I definitely agree that there is a way to wear this costume as homage and a way to wear it as mockery. I think the costume company made their position clear - that it’s a mockery - by the way it is styled in the ad.

I would say that the costume itself isn’t actually transphobic - it’s a costume of someone who has been in the news quite frequently, in what is to-date her most recognizable outfit.

Oh yeah, that is a for-real thing. At one point, a conservative / evangelical / crazy friend of mine explained to me that she definitely believes people are born gay... because of a generational curse that has occurred somewhere in their family tree.

Yeah and Dad is a real killjoy too! C’mon man!

+1! While I was watching this, I could hear my mother’s voice in my head saying, “That’s why we put things away when we’re done with them,” in a very smug tone. Finally, she’d think, the bears have come to prove me right.

YES. I think the guests thought we were making most of it up, “Oh, well, the reason for that little dust-up you just witnessed in the corral is that Diego really likes Blossom, but Blossom’s best friend is Penny and she hates Diego, and didn’t want him standing near Blossom.” And then the guests would sort of laugh

I used to work at a ranch that had ~70 horses, and we spent a weird amount of time gossiping about the horses’ social structure; i.e. “You’ll never guess who I saw Chocolate eating with today.” “WHO??” “NAVAJO.” “No way! Navajo’s such a bitch.”

Part of me wonders if this is a savvy Kanye move to actually keep Nori off the show or minimize her time on it - pretty standard negotiating move to demand a ludicrously high price for a deal you are trying to kill.

Exactly! And this is something that carries over into adulthood, as well. I ran a 10K last weekend, every person who crossed the finish line got a participation medal. I didn’t see a single adult who said, “Oh, I couldn’t possibly... I didn’t EARN it.” I’m guessing maybe a few of the elite folks who have run many

This whole thing is super funny because it inevitably brings out people saying, “There won’t be a trophy when they’re ADULTS and enter the REAL WORLD!”

I saw the headline and thought that somehow she did this on roller skates, although my brain couldn’t figure out quite how. Like, maybe she’s a roller skate waitress at an old-timey drive-in? And then she skated him down?? I read the story and it’s still pretty badass but I like my version better. Also, in my

If you are genuinely curious, then I’m sorry to make fun of your questions. Typically, starting out “there are some things I’ll never understand no matter how hard I try” is not the hallmark of someone who is open-minded and eager to learn - something along the lines of “I’m genuinely curious; I apologize in advance

I hope that I have saved you from a deep, deep future disappointment when you THINK you are getting a macaron but you actually get a macaroon. (It is a terrible disappointment.)
