This partly reminds me of that SNL sketch where mad scientists gather to show off their latest evil inventions, and everyone is put off by the guy with the solar powered mechanical sex predator.

Those poor people with their never-ending list.
That’s disingenuous. Gay marriage was the result of a court case and it had much less popular support than universal background checks. Marijuana legalization broadly came about as a result of direct democracy, where, again, it has had much less support than universal background checks. This isn’t lag, this is a…
Of course it’s a dodge. Your whole shtick is that people don’t want X or Y. When I point out that, when polled, people want the progressive end of those policies, the conversation suddenly moves to what exactly are they specifically agreeing to, forgetting that the whole issue is that the policies aren’t even…
All those questions are a nice dodge when the point is that the issues aren’t dealt with. The conversation isn’t taking place, and if it is nothing comes of it, and when nothing comes of it it isn’t because the status quo is objectively the better option.
Ok, let me put it another way.
Appeals to what people want run pretty thin when you consider that Congress isn’t good at passing popular reform. Or, more accurately, is good at appeasing minority interests. Case in point, universal background checks have been polling at 80% or more for years, yet here we are.
This is so stupid. The strongest gun control bill in years was already DOA because Republicans control the Senate and the Presidency. It’s infighting over a token amendment on a token bill.

Does the reduction in detention beds cover contractors? Or can they cover the loss by getting CoreCivic or GEO to house people?
Polling seems to be on Northam’s side, including almost 60% of Virginia African Americans not wanting him out. The only group polled that can muster over 50% of people wanting him out are Virginia Republicans.
On the sometimes acceptable note, so... Soul Man bad, Tropic Thunder and Trading Places good?
It’s weird how some proverbs get shortened and then used for an opposite or otherwise innocuous meaning. For the police it doesn’t spoil the bunch, and for Trump it’s just a lot of smoke, no fire to be seen.
Considering payday loans were this administration’s solution for the pain caused by its shutdown, is anyone really that surprised?
That view leads to a peculiar result. Outside of a limited number of cultures that only exist within relatively small marginalized groups, the rest have majority representation somewhere in the world. So that interpretation potentially turns any cultural exchange into some form of appropriation. What ownership right…
That’s a good point, but I’m not convinced that the costs of paying Twitch or Youtube streamers to play the game are comparable to a traditional months-long marketing campaign.
