I mean I heard about DA:O from other RPG fans. So the success to some extent was tied to the genre and didn’t go outside of it. What inherent risk there was in the property was both by virtue of being an RPG in the American market and making the game as dark as it was.

I’m not even sure if that’s as true as people make it out to be.

It’s a fair point but it exists largely so no single character stays dominant for too long because they all have different play styles. Essentially there’s no “perfect” balance to the game so a permanent state would basically immediately make half the the characters completely pointless, a handful of characters useful

It’s really hard to understate the importance Fox has had in the Parkinson’s field. His foundation has had a huge impact both in terms of available treatments and outlook.

Fujoshi as a topic is always going to be fraught. If we accept that it’s a bit... objectifying with straight guy’s and Yuri, then it’s really, really, really hard to avoid twisting yourself into knots to not see the potential skeeze factor that gay men may see being viewed that way. In the end there are far more

Sure they are - just not in this forum where where the editorial staff and moderation staff are heavily leaned towards doing that job themselves and other then report and move on there’s not much to do. There’s very little need to defend them when this form isn’t really an oppressive space for the LGBTQ community.

Well that, and lets just be blunt - there’s a bunch of variation and it’s a smaller part of an overall structure which itself can have a bunch of variability. Trying to compare it to the male sex organ is kind of silly because the male version is stupidly obvious.

Bingo.

Kind of fascinated by the reaction to your comment. I will say your comment did veer from making a point to being patronizing.

Yea they probably are pulling the “from other places” card too soon. They could always do this but there are plenty of other Anime studios I think should get a shot. Toradora’s J.C. Staff is one. Maybe Studio Wit or Cloverworks as well.

Yep - and the original Iron Man (which if you believe what some say) was considered a B list superhero and had a 140 million dollar budget... in 2007 money.  I’d argue in reality, everyone who paid attention to comics knew exactly who he was if you accept that Captain America was A-Tier.

Alright Comrade.

By definition, ANY video he creates is self-serving. The only variable is helping people or not. Predatory would require changing definitions.

People have kind of lost the plot here so lets break it down into arguments:

The dynamic of egalitarianism vs. elitism is very old. Society almost always shifts between the two. But allowing elitism to run rampant too long usually ends in even more overt societal controls preventing movement meanwhile too much egalitarianism causes production problems because frankly some people aren’t cut out

Isn’t that just being a hipster?

It’s best to remember Japanese Board rooms are sort of an island unto themselves. They generally don’t “hear” what the fans want or if they are aware, generally don’t care. Culturally consumers don’t really drive those decisions b/c, for lack of better way to say it most Japanese firms especially in this space depend

The problem is there’s no winning. Tightly controlled MMR matchmaking will result in everyone’s matches being extremely sweaty which actually is what killed a lot of the buzz surrounding the game the first time and it will greatly increase queue times.

I’ll say the usual thing I always say with these- I don’t see why they bother. They always have 3 problems:
1) Anime fans will fillibuster them on principle so you don’t get people who are stoked about the IP. They will also not give credit that it’s harder to nail a scene in live action than it is in Anime so they’ll

The reality is the balance of power has shifted considerably and no one is really fighting it.
