My mom has a mild form of dementia that mostly shows up as forgetfulness. I’m coming to realize that some of her memories just aren’t correct. It’s hard because she’s extremely intelligent and had an amazing memory before this happened.

I don’t have firsthand experience, but a close friend is taking care of her mom who is going through dementia, and she says a LOT of stuff that just can’t be verified. The one off the top of my head is that she insists that she lives in houses that my friend is pretty sure never existed. You might ask her doctor.
