Both books in the series were great! Compelling characters, nice gothic, antebellum, western kinda feeling throughout. A protagonist that you love despite her decisions sometimes annoying you. Though not a YA book, I would consider it to be YA friendly. I hope it gets optioned to become a film or series in the near…

Agreed. It was good but not great. At the end, it felt somewhat complete. At the onset of the story, however, I was expecting the series to be a bit more quirky with dashes of dark humor but eh... I agree with brontosaurian below - definitely Fargo-lite!
