Depends where you live. I used to live in NYC - and minivans are basically dead there. Only used by delivery drivers. But here in Silicon Valley - every third car is minivan.

Seems overpriced.. Crate engine with similiar specs is like 15k. Even considering conversion - don’t think that adds another 100k.
Love that Tesla is somehow doing ‘well’ despite being in the red every single year and every single quarter. Normal car companies can only make cars that make business sense. Does it make business sense to build your own supercharger network? Or does it make sense to add some range extender..
I dunno - glad its not my…
Human driven cars will get priced out - the car companies will pick up the insurance costs - provided you are in autonomous mode.. That will spell the end of human driven cars in the long run.
Don’t expect giant boats to return anytime soon. With autonomous cars will likely be a van shape.. Way more space efficient - and we have no need for giant engine sections..
I am not saying it doesn’t have useful abilities or isn’t a nice vehicle. I am saying that automakers believe that people will choose the trucks with more capabilities at lower prices over this one....even if they are not the perfect fit. Trucks are bought on potential not needs.
Current V8 is one of the best engines in the world and likely the last of a breed.. I’d pony up a little more to buy that - even if I lost out on a luxo option or two.
I call shenanigans on this. Market will choose against this. Book it.
Telsa fans LMAO. Sale price of a car does need to factor in R and D. So if they aren’t turning a profit - they are indeed selling below cost - assuming the volume is at reasonable levels.
Are they in the black yet? That seems to be the important point. Sales figures are totally arbitrary. Sell something below cost and you can ‘sell’ as many as you like..
Guys we need to stop holding one random drag as some kind of gospel. Reminds me of when Telsa beat the Hellcat.. Some cars take more skill then others to pilot. There is a some skill in drag racing.
Rolls doesn't cost anywhere near that much.. And it will hit 60mph no problem.. They top out like 78 MPH (not that its a good idea to go that fast). I bet its 0-30mph time is okay.. Only 50 HP - but at 7 liters probably doesn't take too long to rev to 3000 or whatever those things redlined at..
Taxis do not reduce the amount of cars on the road. Trains might - maybe buses but not taxis. Whenever driving has gotten easier - more people have driven and more people choose to drive.
I really like Chris Harris - but I think they should bring the other guys back instead..
No more traffic or speed limits. Now you are dreaming.. It’s an autonomous car- not magic. If you have alot of them on the road you still have traffic. This is an issue as the first thing people will buy is an autonomous 18 wheeler.. If the thing really can drive itself..why suffer?!
Yeah agree with big block.. even 15 years from now we will start seeing pressure.. All new cars with be autonomous - and insurance premiums will make them the attractive choice.
It’s amazing how she skates by with this nonsense. She lets good men die in Benghazi - literally falling asleep. And Obama and the rest bungled the whole middle east..with the arab spring fiascos..
Doug will get an old viper - complain about how impractical and terrible it is - before he drives it off the road into some ditch. He is a guy that should be driving a Camry but has inexplicably become a car writer..
That’s using a very liberal definition of ‘mass shooting’. Most shootings in this country are related to gang violence - and committed by felons who cannot own guns. This all takes place in places like Chicago where 14 deaths is a bad week for them..
“The more of one you have, the more of the other you lose. That’s why the most comfortable cars are often the ones that can’t take a turn without involuntarily going for the car flip world record and the ones poised for track times make their drivers four inches shorter after every race.”
