I’m already saving more and reduce spending wherever I can. When things get back to “normal”, I’m going to continue to save because I want to be better prepared for the next wave of this or some other societal disruption. No way am I going to jump back in and buy a new car.  Whatever I have saved is what I will use to

What? I think this is the dumbest take I’ve read in a while.

Nice idea but they don’t care. They are lying their way through this and are trying to be the first one out and a new leading economy. COVID was a godsend to the Chinese economy. Before COVID their failing economy was all on them but now they have the world collapsing with them and they are a few months farther in the

So, grand pronouncement with little to no detail or background work? Sounds like typical Musk.

Musk has volunteered to make them.  With no timeline on when it could be done, the cost, how many, or even actually reaching out to companies that do this like GM did.

The dealer industry should all take a field trip to an Apple store.

I thought the great thing about capitalism is that the market will respond to demand? If one company goes under, then someone else will step in to fill the void if there is a demand for that product/service. The skilled workforce would get picked up by the new company.

Nah. Fuck too big to fail. A few are, but most businesses just wish they were.

For companies that want bailouts, I think there should be a set of criteria to qualify.

1. If you spent your giant tax break money on stock buybacks - go fuck yourself.
2. If your CEO got a giant bonus from tax break money - go fuck yourself

I can’t imagine anyone WANTING to buy a car right now with all the uncertainty. I’m lucky enough to have a very secure job, money in the bank, etc., but no WAY am I spending a penny that I don’t have to for the foreseeable future. But if you can do the deal online, sure, why not sell a few cars if you can?
