Turkey is going straight to a dictatorship. There isn’t any way that they aren’t going straight into a living nightmare. When a democracy falls everything good has to be crushed. Trump wants the same to happen to us.

The Simplified answer is that the checks and balances that existed within the Turkish political system have been heavily eroded. My mom’s friend is Turkish/Canadian and her family back in Turkey are extremely worried.

If anyone is familiar with Turkish constitutional law, can anyone explain how Erdogan can undermine the parlimentary democracy and award himself such unchecked powers? How nervous should I be that Trump’s “Hey bigly congratulations, successful, so much success” call was followed up by “So, any tips?”

Because he’s too busy thinking about how awesome he is. See how smug he looks? Until his wife nudges him. Asshole.

I about lost my damn mind over some of the coverage I saw of that. “Melania Trump had to remind her husband of this during the pledge”...for fuck’s sake, don’t sugar coat it. The fucking president can’t manage what millions of first graders do every morning.

he can’t even do the pledge...

I really can’t anymore. I just can’t.

So, I get that it’s not unusual for visiting heads of state to ride in the carriage, but is it unusual for them to insist on it? Also, you know, if Donald decides that it’s worth the risk, who am I to tell him otherwise?

It was not 73% of white women. It was 53%. Which is still bad, but that means 47% of us voted for Hillary. White women are easy targets and I am not arguing that we were part of the problem, but dude let’s not exaggerate.

Pelosi voiced the definition of a tyrant making his people suffer to prove his authority:

Didn’t vote for Trump, actively campaigned for Hillary, and am on Obamacare with subsidized payments. I’m sorry you see my health as collateral damage. The “who cares, it’s not me” mentality is what got us in this mess in the first place.

No, he just got fatter for being full of shit with his head up his ass.

Is everyone forgetting that the *Republicans* could have passed this without a single Democrat getting on board, and didn’t? Why is anyone playing into the narrative that the Democrats were the problem.

Holding people hostage.

Honestly? I think the Democrats should say fuck it and not give in. I feel bad for people who didn’t vote for Trump but this will mostly stick it to the people who did.

It blew my mind how many women voted against HRC and for Trump. It would be one thing if the other candidate were, say, a McCain or other politician who was not a misogynist to the degree that Trump is. But why did women vote for Trump???

and what would they lose? Their 4 point advantage with women?

Women essentially abdicated their collective political power in the 2016 election by not overwhelmingly voting for HRC. Perhaps forever- why, mathematically, does it even make sense for democrats to be pro-choice? They could easily win many of the “what’s the matter with Kansas” people if they stopped being

The Post got the 33,000 new beds figure wrong. The memo says ICE has “identified” 21,000 beds for long-term (>72 hours) detention, but only has contracts for another 1,700 and would need more money to buy more. It also says CBP has IDd space for 12,000 more people to be held in short-term (<72 hrs) detention. The

Meanwhile, women fucking suck.
