Remember once upon a time when commuting was a thing? I do. I live in Los Angeles and used to commute from Downtown to the West Side. A horrible, traffic filled 15 mile nightmare. This is the only scenario that I see the Mirai actually making some sense. Even then, I think I’d prefer an EV when I change cars next year…
I love this segment but no to slideshows pleeeaaase, pretty pleeeeaaase
We all know how this is going to go. The iX will go on sale. No one will buy it because people willing to spend $65k+ on an EV tend to actually care about how it looks, far more so than people spending $20k on a commuter. BMW will cave. Redesign it. Sales recover. It’s just so tedious we have to go through this.
I actually don’t mind the i3 design, I know it was pretty divisive. But this thing is fucking hideous. The rear is fine but the front and side, AWFUL. I hope nobody buys these. BMW needs a new design direction ASAP.
Im confused. So the N-Line ones are both a trim level AND have performance enhancements but the N Cars are just one trim level and the top performance for the model line? is that right?
For the first time in my 35 years, I am not heading home to the UK for Christmas. It’s bittersweet. Whilst I would obviously love to see my family, I cannot bear the risk of possibly infecting them as they are old and have medical conditions. I am actually looking forward to my first Christmas, in my own home, with my…
PRICE. PRICE .PRICE. The cheap EV’s DO sell well - look at the Renault Zoe. It can be leased almost for free thanks to very generous subsidies. The rest of the EV market is $$$ and until VW can deliver us a true ‘people’s EV’ then it will remain the preserve of the wealthy who don’t buy in the kind of numbers to make…
I’ve always thought these were ridiculous little things that made a small car even more difficult to drive with blindspots you could hide an F150 in. HOWEVER. I drove one of the hybrid ones as a rental in the UK and.....kinda loved it. It sipped fuel, felt very ‘cocooning’ and was ridiculously comfortable for a 450…
Mazda has the MX-30 ready to go next year. I think they could benefit from investment from Toyota to develop this further. Ultimately, we know Mazda is capable of giving us a vehicle that is fun to drive, something distinctly lacking in the vast majority of the Toyota line up. Whilst driving dynamics are clearly not…
I agree with this take and I find it interesting that the cars which command fierce loyalty are more friendly designs - eg, Jeep Wrangler, Tesla etc.
ND. Way, way, waaaay too many unknowns. I know its kind of a case of ‘whats the worst that could happen’ given how simple these things are but so many red flags.
2nd Gear: Controversial opinion maybe...but Toyota needs to buy Mazda. To save it. They should buy Subaru whilst they’re at it. That way Toyota can be like VW in that they have a different brand for each market. eg, Mazda can be what Seat/Cupra is to VW. The sporty, nicely designed fun brand. Subaru can be the Skoda - …
So basically Porsche needs to shove the Taycan drivetrain into their SUV’s to achieve sales nirvana? If they can increase the range, an EV Macan sounds kinda exactly what this market is looking for and will provide Model 3 owners looking for something different, an option to switch.
Yes! I’m very excited by that. I have a feeling Ford is gunna make it too big (see new ranger) but the spy pics dont make it look too chunky.
I have a real soft spot for this little utes, especially the Saveiro. I am convinced if VW went to the *considerable* effort to make it US compliant AND if they could keep the price <$20k it would sell. If they can give it the ID3 powertrain - even better! an EV mini ute with a 250 mile range makes a lot of sense
Honda messed with the lower range in the ‘e’ - sure it’s cute as hell but the range just isnt there for what most buyers *want* - not need. Just look at the Renault Zoe which is selling like hotcakes because it’s cheap to lease and has decent range.
The side profile is very Suzuki SJ30/Samurai/Jimny/Sierra/Drover/Gypsy/Caribian/Katana
