The red paint brings the price above the threshold for the tax credit. So that $2000 costs you another $7500, hence, $9500 red paint.

Seriously?
Uh, what? This smells like bullshit to me.
My Chevy Bolt uses about 29Kwh to drive 100 miles.
I pay .25 per Kw to charge at home. That’s $7.25 for 100 miles.
My gas car gets about 22 mpg combined, for 100 miles that’s 4.5 gallons @ $4/gal = $18 in regular gas for 100 miles.
This title made me not want to read the article, and after attemping to read the first sentence I gave up and now posting my comment.
“...the dealership won’t let you buy out your lease”
If a customer wants to buy at the end of their lease, how exactly is the car dealer stopping them?
How does a dealer refuse to let you buy your lease? That's something they are obligated to do. I would think a quick call to corporate would solve that problem.
Nah, there was a big thing with dealers not wanting to let people buy their cars after the lease period ended, because they could make more selling it to someone else instead.
I wonder how many folks who leased shortly before Covid found themselves with a relatively cheap buyout in the last 12 months and just decided to buy the car outright. My parents were in that boat with a 3 year old Q5 that had like 12k miles on it. The pre-determined buyout price made it a steal.
This wouldn’t result in a new grounding of the 737 Max. The Max 7 and Max 10 are new aircraft with none delivered yet. The 737 Max 8 and Max 9 are the ones that were grounded due to the earlier crashes and aren’t the subject of this extension.
I thought Musky didn’t have a PR department? Go sit in a Mercedes E class and then come back and tell us whether you still think a tesla is comparable.
no it isnt. tesla doesnt make luxury cars. they make premium cars. its the difference between being mazda and infiniti or being bmw and mercedes. tesla is infiniti level, not bmw level. bmws seats dont get stained fucking blue from your jeans.
1st Gear: I would argue that Tesla is only “luxury” in price. The inside of the 3 and Y are much less luxurious than my 9 year old Lexus CT (the cheapest Lexus) and about on par with my 15 year old Highlander Hybrid. The Model 3 and a Camry/Altima/Accord are probably better comparisons, even though I would easily give…
Kinja’s new feature = replacing images & video with pale grey blocks!
When I was a kid visiting family in Sweden, I spent a significant amount of time riding in the way-back of one of these. The fam lived on a farm way out in the boonies. They had it for nigh on 20 years of driving unpaved roads, hauling people, farm tools, and sometimes actual farm animals (in a trailer). It was…
The car you’re describing is the exact car I would buy, but they’re not going to do it. I REALLY like the idea of a Crosstrek, but the author is wrong, that 2.0L is a woefully underpowered dog. I also hate driving CVTs with a passion, so... it’s too bad they don’t sell the 2.5L with a 6-speed either. Turbo and stick,…
I love this idea, but of all them they would sell, at least half would wind up on their roof.
Looks like a smoothed and rounded Aerostar. But we got the Windstar instead.
Did you turn your rearview mirror selector switch to the right? Once you do that, the rearview mirror will pivot downwards when you shift into reverse. If you had the switch set to neutral, it won’t.
There will be an electric Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, I think for the 2025 model year, and with a claimed weight of about 3,650 lbs.
