Jalopnik needs to STOP asking us to ponder if sedans will ever make a great return. The answer is no. They’re an inefficient use of space for families. When the average crossover easily gets 25mpg+ - up to 40+ in hybrid form, why on earth does a sedan make sense? The sedan aint going away completely but it will be

You’re braver than I! It’s the age old problem - reliability vs fun.

Oh interesting! I didn’t know they did an HR-V EV

Have you driven a 205 though? I’m a ‘powerfully built’ 6ft2 and frankly it’s astonishing how much space the superior 205 GTI has. The lack of any crash protection or interior plush at all makes the thing fairly roomy. I will admit that I haven’t driven a 309 in GTI form but I have driven it in lower trim, (some silly

The problem (as is so very, very often the case) is that whilst Jalops love the Fit, as I do - my mother owned one in UK ‘Jazz’ form - it’s quietly competent, reliable and just an all round great car...but, no-one wants to buy one new. A 3 year old, off-lease Fit is the true ‘holy grail’ for these things. The fact

The car is pretty, will probably appreciate and will be a hoot to own. I’m all in. BUT no recent pics, overpriced and just a lot of red flags. I’m all out. CP.

Uh, former 2011 GTI owner here....and my thousands of dollars spent just keeping the thing going would like a word! I would 100% lease a GTI because it was a great car, but there’s no way in hell I would ever consider a used one. Ever. I would actually take a 90's GTI easily! - at least repairs are fairly simple.

WAIT. WHAT. A GTI that y’know, is actually reliable and will last longer than a 3 year lease!? Yes please.

Are there even clunkers left anymore!?

omg will they put they silly solar panel roof in this like with the Sonata hybrid? Yes, yes I know it’s a gimmick at best, but really an extra 2 miles a day with constant sunshine (I live in SoCal, so it’s do-able) does make a difference on a 12 mile, traffic clogged LA commute.

A good question! I do wonder what the numbers look like on the amount of people that lease one car and own another. We are a lease household - just one Toyota lease that’s not due back until next year but I wonder if people, with potentially reduced incomes will either try and find used or lease again....time will

Wait. Hold up. WHO THE HELL bought at Mitsubishi this month!? I’m astonished they sold more than 5, let alone 9,394! I can’t wait to see Nissan’s numbers.....

I would probably go for the boring reliability of the Prius Prime in this segment, although the Volt is obviously prettier and good bit cheaper. For a commuter this is a good deal but newer ones were available for decent lease prices before they killed it off. Oh GM. Why oh why didn’t you tweak the drivetrain for a

Their sales are ‘okay’ down over 7% in 2019 but they’re no Nissan. The problem is the very limited line up. They essentially only sell the CX5 at this point (which I admit, is a very good crossover) but I can see them being swallowed up. I appreciate their smallness makes them nimble, but at the same time it deprives

Mazda is in trouble for sure.  They have a younger customer base who aren’t going to be looking to buy new anytime soon. Nissan/Infiniti is completely done. Buick might recover if China roars back quickly enough. If this virus kills off their customer base then Lexus is facing a big problem.

Even the fleet sales possibility seems unlikely surely? the usual fleet sales buyers (Gov agencies, Car rentals etc) will be drastically cut back due to lack of demand. The key here is going to be getting people into a position to even think about purchasing. A huge, HUGE % of the country is going to be months, years

I don’t care. I’m into it. Salt’n’Pepper Daddy with a competent, empathetic yet authoritative tone? BUT also with a kinky side? (he’s a politician, they’ve all got their kinks) - Yes Sir! lemme tweak ‘em!

Wait, they’re actually cutting all the ridiculous bullshit fees they add on? I’m pretty surprised by that! I thought they’d go the other way. I actually like Hertz. i’ve attained their ‘Presidents Circle’ status and they can often have a pretty decent collection of cars - Not all Nissan shitboxes. At least, not always

I had to go pick up some equipment from my office on Monday. I did it after my work day was done at 5pm. Ordinarily, a trip from DTLA to the West Side of Los Angeles, a distance of around 16 miles can easily, EASILY take 1hr 20 mins+ at that time. My usual commute home is just over the 1 hr mark. It took me 15 mins. I

I think it’s his overly masculine Italian bully energy that you (and I) are responding to. He speaks with conviction, with authority and seems to have some competence at actually managing a truly dire situation. Qualities severely lacking in our President. He’s brought together the Governors of not 1, not 2 but 3 (at
