The show benefitted - tremendously - from an incredibly intense pilot. It hooked us and drew us into Naz’s plight right away, even though it fumbled almost every opportunity borne from that intensity in almost every episode that followed.

I think the Brazilian women just figured out how to spook Walsh at the net. Defense-wise, the match almost looked like it was won entirely on tips/roll shots that Ross was late to; and whenever Walsh did show a block only to step back for defense, the Brazilians smoked the ball.

That Brazilian defense was absurd at times, I thought one of the commentators was correct in stating it almost felt like they had four players on the sand. I, also, now look forward to seeing if that German team manage to break another superb Brazilian team.
