“Harper’s too young to be pulling this,” according to my anonymous source I’ll call “E. Hochuli.” No wait, that’s too specific. Let’s just call him “Ed H.”
Heh heh... Tittle...
And while we’re on the subject, never forget... YOU DON’T MAKE FRIENDS WITH SALAD!
Nah. I mean, sure, the conference thing added insult to injury. But the reason Bears fans still bitch about this ten years later is we feel like we got jobbed.
Goff is a special QB talent who will make a great pro prospect... if he survives. It seems like every game he takes a beating, even against lesser opposition, and I’m genuinely concerned for his health and longevity.
I think it’s more that Texas leapfrogged them for no good reason. It’s easy to say now, knowing how the games came out, that Texas was the superior team. At the time, however, that wasn’t at all clear.
What makes you so sure Goff can read a defense? Cal doesn’t exactly play a pro-style offense. I think Goff is enormously talented, and has great pocket presence like you say. But I fully expect he will have to adjust to making pro-style reads like a lot of other college QBs.
Fun fact: Cal’s current HC, Sonny Dykes, was actually on the Texas Tech coaching staff that beat Cal in the Holiday Bowl.
Unconscionable!
Hang on...
Honestly, the one that killed me even more was Joe Smith. To win the draft lottery in a year when a guy like Smith is the #1 pick was just so very... Dubslike lol.
Have you ever heard Artie Lange and Norm MacDonald talking about the time they hung out in the broadcast booth with Bob Ueker? If not, enjoy (btw, NSFW):
Jon Miller over Joe Buck.
The crazy thing about Rodgers is that Tedford screwed up his mechanics so bad at Cal that people actually thought he wasn’t a fluid passer coming out of college. Now look at him. A great reminder that coaches shouldn’t fix what ain’t broke.
Hang in there, man. I think Bridgewater’s the real deal.
Obscenity is in the eye of the beholder. The fact is, many NFL players aren’t even paid market price for their services. Can you imagine if the film or music industry tried to impose a salary cap on actors or musicians?
You’re right, of course. As I mentioned elsewhere, Luck is being asked to do too much, too soon, with insufficient supporting cast. That said, in the absence of objective support like DVOA or QBR, any ranking of Luck is subjective and speculative. And while I agree Luck has all the potential in the world, and is…
Who is this “we”? Look, there are many valid arguments in defense of Luck, but I’m afraid “wins” isn’t among them. Football is a team sport, and wins and losses are a team stat, so it’s worse than useless to judge a QB by his record.
