Right? I kept waiting for a Gorn to appear and eat the bear or something.

I don’t know about the best, but basketball has to have the worst bench area. Players have their backs to crowds of drunk, hostile fans with no real protection from attack. It amazes me more bad things haven’t happened to hoops players.

This is a great reminder of the difference between descriptive vs. predictive value. Have these guys played poorly so far? Absolutely. Does that mean they will continue playing poorly in the future? Probably not.

I don’t see any hard evidence Luck has a “better football IQ” than Wilson, but I agree Luck’s a top-10 QB. I was just objecting to the top-5 designation, which I find premature.

For sure. He’s top-10 now and I have little doubt he’ll be top-5 soon enough. BTW, I’m all aboard the Tyrod Taylor train!

True, his o-line and weapons do suck with the exception of Hilton. Then again, look at Russell Wilson. His o-line may suck even worse, and his only weapon is Lynch, yet I don’t see people rushing to rank him as a top-5 QB. This coming from a Niners fan who hates Wilson and the Seachickens with a passion.

True, context matters. And as I noted in another comment, Luck is being asked to do too much, too soon, with insufficient personnel. Still, it feels to me like people are so quick to make excuses for Luck that they wouldn’t for any other young QB.

Luck’s being asked to do too much, too soon, with insufficient supporting cast. If it were any other young QB, this would be obvious to people, but the hype machine runs overtime for Luck.

Your point about Gore and Johnson is well taken. But I have to point out, Luck is not a top-5 QB, at least not yet. Last year was his best as a pro, yet he ranked only 13th in QBR and 10th in DVOA. He has all the promise in the world, but his production and efficiency have yet to match the hype.

I’m in!

Adequate Man really needs to do a follow-up involving shart stories.

Please, sir! Panda’s watching his weight... hold the cinderblock.

More like another Bill post. As in Cosby or Clinton.

“Go cut me a switch!”

Wait... why is Will the Thrill a dunce?

I think so, too, with two caveats:

Makes me want to rewatch Uncommon Valor. I’m curious if it holds up any better than Rambo II.

Caught this again on cable recently, and I have to agree. It’s even better than I remembered and has aged surprisingly well.
