I got an -ocean- of shit for voice chat on Last Oasis while I was playing it - like, literally called all sorts of -real- bad slurs. I’m trans, and it’s fairly obvious, but I’m not at all shy despite that. Got kicked around and had folks spawn-camp me and grief like crazy ‘cuz of that.

Couldn’t agree more. We just have laws on the books that provide the absolute most basic protection on a local level (and, as I understand it, a Sheriff with queer family who’s about as close to ‘ally’ as a cop gets).

As a person for whom this matters a lot:

Volusia County (where I live, where they host the Daytona 500) has surprisingly strong LGBTQ+ protections on the local books. You can’t be a party town and crowd out the queers, everybody knows that.

I mean, first of all, Republican states are often shot through with gerrymandering, voter suppression, and redistricting which comes out to their best possible advantage.
