General Altimax Arctics are good inexpensive winters for folks on a budget-very much worth a mention.
In Calgary, the first generation Smarts are the only ones that have decent winter tires. The new ones and the Mercs are brutal in the snow.
Occasionally, but generally they can see that the person in front of me isn’t going any faster than me or is even braking, so there isn’t any point. But local traffic is relatively chill.
I intentionally leave big gaps ahead of me in stop-and-go traffic jams. It eases the problem (vehicles undergoing a ‘slinkie’ pattern) and is way, way easier on anyone driving a stick, as a single speed can be maintained longer. As for longer gaps at stoplights, I get harped on about this every time I do the company…
I mean, minimum wage in California is 10.50 an hour, regardless of tips. It comes down to a belief in the right to a livable wage for work. Plenty of folks disagree in the whole premise of minimum wage.
