Exactly. My company operates one for power generation, as well as a huge fleet of RR RB211 engines in mechanical drive service. Remove the turbofan and LP power turbine, add a free power turbine and likely some emission controls if you're on land. I doubt they'll bother with the emissions on these ships, and I'd

Mr Long-what would you choose from the military collection listings? I'm loving the DUKW, the Mule, the Citroen, and the KM m11 halftrack myself. Not sure what I'd do with a SCUD.

Nothing like a new rattle in your dash! I do imagine that using your locking diffs would have helped juuuuuuuuust a bit :-)

That was nothing to do with people's reactions. The reason you don't recall a men's team doing it is because their celebrations aren't considered news. And it wasn't public-it was after everyone but one cameraman had left.

They love seeing a DeDion suspension, a backwards engine size and location, and an awful transmission setup. Of course they love the Smart.

Well, they sell way, way more S class and AMGs than they do A8s, let alone S8s. And the S8 is even a bit quicker (to 60) than the S63 4matic. But any time a 4.5-5 thousand lbs car accelerates like that it's shocking.

The sedan SS looks almost exactly like any other Cobalt, which were known for being cheap cars and nothing else, but it could blow any sub-$35k hot hatch out of the water.

That isn't one of the turbo sedans? Sure looks exactly like the one from C&D.

I believe that's also when they added the excellent 'HiPer Strut' front end and a limited slip diff, I believe.

Ah, but no limited slip diff. Faster than the Vette until one wheel lost traction and you either lost power (traction control on) or light it up and went nowhere (traction control ofF). Ask me how I know....

It's a sub-4 second to 60 luxo-barge. That's straight crazy right there.

Wait, what's the economic benefit to killing pedestrians and cyclists without penalties?

School buses!

Fair enough. They don't put wings on Bentleys.

No, I have to ride like I deserve to be there. Some car drivers don't like that. They also don't understand that they can legally pass me on a single yellow line. :-)

Oh, there are a ton of risk taking, nutty cyclists. But I've almost been taken out because I was being too polite-I didn't want to take the lane. I don't make that mistake any more! Getting honked at for making drivers give me room is way safer.

I'm not successful enough to afford $400-500/month parking. The car is paid off!

It's almost impossible to be charged with anything as a driver when you hit a pedestrian or especially a cyclist. Unless you're drunk. It isn't right, but in the US, that's basically the rule. EDIT: Hit and run also triggers charges. I'm an idiot.

Everyone can enjoy the premise, but it looks too Mansory for me, blech

Er, different car, different gas turbine, different application, but yes, that is the compromise you live with in a 60s design turbine powered daily driver.
