I don’t understand the outrage over his tax credit. It’s the way the tax code works. Not only was he not doing anything illegal, but it would be hard to even argue he was “exploiting the system.” Almost nobody, including you and I, pays more taxes than is required.

I don’t think anybody is advocating for sports to be risk-free. The argument is that for many, the risk of football has exceeded some threshold of acceptability.

You can penalize plays like this where there’s no intent, but doing so won’t reduce the frequency of accidental hits, which is the whole point of the rule, in the first place.

At full speed, these types of hits are an occasional inevitability, even if there’s no intent on the part of defender.
