Came here to say something similar. The amateur CTE diagnosis fits a narrative and aligns the family with a growing movement that might end up taking care of them, but it seems more likely this is something else. At the very least, it’s impossible to be so sure it’s CTE considering we haven’t seen that manifest itself…

In the Chargers’ release, they claim that Bosa was offered the largest initial signing bonus payment of any player in the last two drafts, more money in this calendar year than any other rookie except Wentz, and the largest payment and highest percentage of signing bonus received in the first calendar year.

His dad also played 30 years ago in a totally different era and a completely different CBA situation. Knowing how tenuous the game is, it wouldn’t shock me if he was telling his son to take the $20+ million in guaranteed money.

I think that’s valid and understand why he would be hesitant to take such an offer. I don’t know what the precedent is. Do other teams give their rookies this offset language? Regardless, I find it hard to believe that the hit he’s going to take in the draft for failed negotiations and being out of football for a year…

The team seems to be horribly mismanaging this but it ultimately has to be that Bosa doesn’t want to play for them, right? Maybe he didn’t feel that way when he was drafted but has settled on that during these negotiations.

I think it’s more likely the IOC needs to revisit their model. This one city proposal will never fly.
