What about those companies that “re-fit” a cover for the tub and the surround? Is that a good solution?

Interesting semantics - the AA, AAA, C & Ds are “cells”, not batteries. Put 6 AAAs together and you have a “battery” - literally a battery of cells.

The best advice on negotiation I’ve ever received is simply to ask, “Is this negotiable?”. If the answer is “yes”, you’ve been given permission.

Have you tried crushed up potato chips? They’re awesome.

My solution is to poach chicken as needed. Bring enough chicken stock (or water, or combo of both) to low boil in a small pot - enough to cover the boneless, skinless chicken you intend to poach. place chicken in pot, low boil for 7 minutes, then cover and remove from heat. When pot is at room temp., remove chicken,

I keep a number of ice cube trays around just for this purpose. I freeze stocks, soups, etc. and keep them in labled ziptop bags. I can defrost enough for a bowl of soup or 2-3 cubes for a sauce.

I used a little joke. When people asked me where I was registered, my reply was “Citibank” (ha ha). We were of course registered elsewhere, so the conversation never got awkward.

Where was this article 10 years ago? I totally agree whith everything mentioned here, but I wish I didn’t need to learn them all on my own.

Now that you mention this, I realize it is one of my greatest challenges. I can handle the distractions, but my spouse will frequently ask me to pick something up or drive a child somewhere. My best solution so far is to schedule specific time for these things and put them on my calendar to prevent overlap. I can only

Back when NOTHING was open, before Netflix and TV was just Christmas specials, My then girlfriend and I used to travel to Atlantic City. No traffic, everything open 24/7, cheap, high quality hotel rooms. Neither of us gamble, but we like good food, indoor swimming and steam rooms.

There’s a global warming joke here, just not clever enough to make one

I know many will read your article and think, “great advice, but I could never do that”. Simply asking is a great negotiating tactic for the more timid.

That’s like two years worth of gas, so still not a bad deal

I’m of two minds on this whole Hardy thing. On the one hand, a reprehensible jackass is playing in the NFL - bad. On the other, even reprehensible jackasses are entitled to work, and this is what he does for a living.

I’m an Android user but my 2 kids want iphones. There are many Android models under $300 that I’m willing to pay for. If they want something more expensive they can go on Gazelle, buy the iphone with my $300 “subsidy” and pay the overage themselves with money they’ve earned.

OK, I get it, Holoween. This is the scariest thing I’ve read on this site.

No rationalization required. Kirkland brand is frequently superior to everything else, the fact that it’s less expensive is a bonus (for full disclosure, I prefer Marzano tomatoes not available at Costco, as far as I know).

Try this: “I hate to interrupt, but could we continue this in 10 minutes? I need to use the mens/ladies room”

So all of you have done exactly as the author suggests - I guess the technique works
