Thank you for writing this. I have a friend who just lost both his parents and I want to support him but I wasn’t sure what to say or how to act when I see him. This really helped me learn how to be supportive during a friend’s grief.

Yeah...I they’re just tan sorority girls. At first my friend thought they were drawing facial hair on with makeup to make fun of hairy ethnic women (which would be messed up if they were, but since they weren’t that made me laugh)

As a UCLA alumna I am fucking horrified. This is disgusting but not surprising. Stupid frats. The school has a serious problem with racism and I wish they would address it more seriously!

Fuck this. These girls are the worst. I really don’t understand why we have greek life on campuses anymore anyway (and don’t tell me about how they “do so much philanthropy” because that is B.S.)

Another thing to consider (not that this applies to the author) but if you are constantly finding that you have problems with female friendships you might want to think about why. Roxane Gay’s rules for female friendship are a must read:

I totally get that too. It’s hard. People don’t always want to make the effort once they have kids, even when I offer to meet them halfway (What if we meet for lunch near the fields after your kids’ games? No reponse). I just keep reminding myself that life moves in cycles and then there’s a period of down an “up”…

I have an acquaintance who literally believes this. She’s pretty insufferable (for a variety of reasons, but her devout veganism and need to preach it constantly is at the top) and I’m not sure why my friends like her.

This is horrifying! I am so sick of reading stories like this. Not that I’m sick of people reporting them, just sick of living in a society where these things happen (and law enforcement doesn’t always do their job)
