Glowing about the cat-related antics in the context that the rest of the game involving robots and weird stuff should not have existed and just been about a cat wandering and exploring ruins.

Except it’s not a shooty element, it’s an extension of the flashlight mechanic that you have to use without it burning out to get through one section, then it burns out anyway due to a particular tense moment, and it’s not used again. If anything, it has more in common with the Alan Wake series and its use of the

The “better, fairer minded” type reviewer that basically handwaved away most of the legitimate concerns people have about the Diablo Immortal monetization with “well, I’m having fun” and managed to either miss or ignore the way the game was pushing him toward spending even before the level cap?

not that he thought the game itself just should have been fundamentally different

I wouldn’t let it even do that.

It sucks, but Blizzard has to compete with Genshin Impact levels of marginal revenue, so they’re not going to go soft on the mobile market.

Sure, but even suspending disbelief they have elements of combat that just don’t feel right with heavy hitters like the Hulk. Stuff like basic laser shots not only damaging you (which is fine) but also causing the same kind of flinch reaction you see from characters like Black Widow or Kate Bishop.

Probably comes down to who they tagged to develop it - Crystal Dynamics did Avengers, Eidos Montreal did GoTG.

I’m not nearly as harsh on Cyberpunk 2077 as this site, but even I’m skeptical of this bit...

Most of the tech he gets from R&D seems to either be random projects most wouldn’t recognize when all used together (like the cape) or ends up being created in a way where various parts get made through shell companies and the process is masked to be difficult to track...

From other websites? Maybe not.

It’s always worth pointing out that you aren’t obligated to partake in stupid in-game microtransactions like these. You could have an awesome time with Diablo Immortal without spending a single dollar, though it does become troublesome if you want to participate in some of the game’s PvP.

My guess is limited time events.

It’s really not complicated. At the start, legendary gems aren’t needed. As you play the game, and need a higher Combat Rating, they become necessary - and that includes all endgame content, not just being competitive in PvP. You’re literally gated from entering higher difficulty content if your Combat Rating isn’t

...Not sure what you don’t understand from that statement.

Necessary? No...not initially, at least.

Oh they are, but they added an extra layer of “Fuck you” to it.

Yep - saw it elsewhere, but someone basically pointed out that while a couple of monetization elements common to F2P mobile stuff can be found in games like Genshin, basically all of them are present in Diablo Immortal.

I think a somewhat revealing comment is the “clash of ideals” element to the story they want to tell, and I think that illuminates why they went with the Mature rating.
