Identity politics: the clamoring of affluent, upper-middle class types for greater access to board rooms, positions, privileges, etc., on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, etc. That is what the author’s reference to “representation” means in this context.

“Grand Theft Auto VI will feature two protagonists, a male and a female”

Cool...

“and return to Miami, the location of its popular Grand Theft Auto: Vice City spin-off”

Neat...

“and will also be more cultural sensitive following an internal evolution of Rockstar’s workplace.”

Umm... wtf does a politically correct GTA even

You certainly managed to draw a lot of conclusions about games that are 100+ hours long without actually playing them, based entirely on very small amounts of information. Clearly, we have found our new authority on the subject.

It’s truly impressive the amount of trolls/blantant-idiots responding to your comment with “duh they’re covering Spider-Man!” Like... this isn’t news, though, this doesn’t need to be covered, and your comment is just making a joke of that.

But there I go, giving the “humans” who comment at Kotaku in a hateful manner

I like how your relatively simple sentence has brought people out to defend Kotaku for some reason.

At least it’s funny if you imagine there being someone in charge of Kotaku yelling at all the writers James Jonah Jameson-style to “Give me more Spider-Man!”

“Please. You don’t just “slip up” and throw that word around unless you use it casually in your everyday life.”

I agree with all of your points, but depending on this guy’s age (not sure how old he is but if he’s in his 30s), he probably casually said that word in high school or younger as an insult because that was incredibly common (and not necessarily used directly as anti-gay). It’s possible that word came out in a moment

Show us on the doll where the nasty straight white man touched you.

Seriously though, the entire bit weirded me the fuck out. Like, just because they’re charismatic/hot, it’s okay to work with human traffickers? And people celebrate these characters?

How much does adding accessibility options cost versus how many new customers are they likely to bring in? I work in construction and in that industry accessibility has a high price tag, especially in retrofitting, so that’s why the ADA exists.

I guess it is like Olympic athletes. Sure anyone can be a runner, but not everyone will be Usain Bolt. Even with all the practice in the world.

Wait really? Thank fuck for that, her articles for the last few months have been horrendous

Good riddance. But yeah as you said, we are still stuck with her rage bait alumni.

She got fired last week

It’s a shame that even though Patricia is now gone, the roster of rage bait artists she hired are still around

This is why people say the left eats itself.

For a website that regularly spotlights cosplaying women it seems a little weird to basically demean them as “fluff”. I’m sure the hundreds of hours they spent on their costumes and makeup didn’t seem like “fluff” to them.

While I’m glad that schools have cracked down on bullying since my days, but I feel like half these TikTok kids wouldn’t try these antics if they had gotten their asses kicked in school. Makes you really understand risk/reward when you understand that “socked in the mouth” is a possible outcome.

I’d argue that save scumming in Baldur’s Gate 3 feels very much akin to tweaking a rule in D&D that you don’t like, or letting a failed die roll translate into softer outcomes
