Guys like Sheperd and Labonte are also in the class of the start and park drivers who qualify, then start, and park after six laps for the money. The physical toll inflicted is far less than the regulars who actually race for points.

Most of NASCAR's top series race on road courses a few times per season, and only the Cup series doesn't race in the rain, but using rain tires in road races have been suggested and possibly in the works.
I imagine that falls somewhere between darts and fishing.
