Eh, I thought this was kind of a boring episode, but I do really like the Jared stuff. This is a new mode for Zach Woods to play in this show, and of course he’s killing it.

Funniest parts were whenever the Waitress dropped her voice and just spoke normally, especially “You did, Charlie, I saw you scoop it out of the can, and it smells so bad. You’re so close to me with that. God.”
This got a little tedious, but the end was surprisingly heartwarming, and I liked seeing Charlie and Frank in relatively competent mode this time. I also appreciated the Dee-Dennis and Mac-Charlie pairings, which are two of my favorites - it seems like too many episodes lately have been Mac-Dennis and Charlie-Frank…
B+ sounds about right. Mac’s subservience is getting annoying, and in general I don’t like that so many of the characters are getting flattened out into their one characteristic. Dennis is always either frustrated or sociopathic, Mac is always pathetic and subservient, everyone always bullies/openly loathes Dee, etc. I…
Easily my favorite of the season so far, mostly because we got back to Chidi in stressed mode, which is still the best. Favorite William Jackson Harper line reading this week was his weak “Tea. I was going to offer you some tea.”
There’s a couple nice scenes in this - I liked the cremation, and Davina’s musical number at the actual funeral was touching. But overall this was really bad.
Lower was great on this season of High Maintenance.
Not a very good episode. The Teddy twist was obvious from the beginning. The only times I really laughed were the pantsless reveal and “La Bamba.”
She was great in The Edge of Seventeen, and she’s playing young Emily Dickinson in the upcoming Apple series!
My roommate and I actually paused HBO to scream when Shiv said “Oh, for fuck’s sake, Dad, just tell them it’s gonna be me.” I don’t know what it is, but this show really does something to me.
I am so ready for the final season of The Affair, which sounds absolutely bonkers and stupid and I’m gonna love it.
Boooooo @ no scenes of Celeste’s therapist.
Took me a second to realize this was a pilot review and not an advance review of the second season, but hey, this is cool. The first season was one of my favorite shows of last year (probably #4 after The Americans, GLOW, and High Maintenance for me).
They’re planning a TV show: https://www.indiewire.com/2019/06/station-eleven-hiro-murai-warnermedia-tv-show-1202153050/
Thought this was a biopic of the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman.
The first season started promising, but after about four episodes I started to sour on it, and by the end I kind of hated it. (I always loved Mars, though, mostly because of Ramos’s performance.) This confirms my decision to stop watching.
I loved this episode. The various permutations of Jane’s guilt - and Rafael’s inner turmoil - make me feel very relaxed and trusting of how the writers will handle this plot for the rest of the season.
She even says “the second one,” which is the one that quote is from. One of my favorite parts of the episode.
Ugh. The last 10-15 minutes had some good emotional moments (particularly liked Fiona’s last moment with Frank), but otherwise this was a shitty finale and a very rushed send-off for Fiona.
Thought the first scene of this episode was genuinely scary and emotional in a way this show hasn’t been for a while, but then pretty much everything else sucked as usual.
